We tent camped here for five days and enjoyed our stay. Here were our pros and cons. The beach area is fantastic for kids and families. It was a crowded and hot weekend but the beach didn't feel too packed. There were also several rocky shorelines to explore and skip rocks. The campground was well maintained with three shower houses and several vault toilets. Our site had plenty of trees and shade. We gave up lakeside to have the trees though. The sites were spaced out enough that we didn't feel like other campers were right on top of us. All and all, it is a well designed park.

With that being said, I was disappointed to find that there were no, or very little, hiking trails. The park manager let us know that there may be plans to expand the hiking trails and remote tent camping sites. We were ecstatic to hear this and really hope this becomes a reality. It would be great if we didn't have to travel out of state or to the hills to find this option and would utilize...

North Point is a SD State park. You must purchase a SD parks pass to enter. Once in there are several boat ramps with alot of parking. If you are towing a boat behind a camper there is sufficient room at most of the ramps to drop your boat off while you setup camper.I stayed at the campground for 3 nights. It runs a little over $30 night these are electric only as are most in SD state parks. Sites are spaced far apart and it is mostly back in spots. The sites are gravel or cemented and pretty level. Each site has enough room for a boat and camper. There are several restroom shower buildings around the campgrounds that are kept very clean and well stocked. North Point is above the Damm and has good fishing. Also alot of trails and a rifle range. Is a...

Our family spent 4 days here & experienced "the good, bad & ugly" weather wise at this location! The first night's temps at 103, cool water & rolling heat brought in winds clocked at 63mph! After that, cloudy skies, occasional rain, then a beautiful sunny day on Saturday made everything right! Bathroom facilities were clean & accommodating, the campsites spacious for RV, boat, & vehicles, aluminum picnic tables and fire pit provided, trash bins emptied almost daily. We plan to go back to this site next year! Also, there are 2 dump sites & 2 potable water pumps across from ranger station which helped RVs needing these services move more quickly. Thank you park people for...

Local resident* Most summers this place is packed, try and enjoy it before the busy season hits (May/June). The water stays pretty cold up until July or so, but I’ve seen people in wet suits as early as middle of April. The camp ground is usually maintained well, but the amount of people in summers make it a little hard to keep up. There are little cabins you can rent here, those are nice, as they are a little more secluded compared to the trailer area. There are plenty of little towns around the area with everything you could need for your time here. Also many spots that you can go to get away from such the crowded area to use as a swimming hole. Enjoy the stay!
