I realize now, I didn't get any photos of the buildings. Vermillion Point is a beautiful area. We went up there for a rock hunting excursion. Looking for Emberlites and Lake Superior Agates. We found both!

Do not follow a GPS to get back here as most will route you down Pond Rd. Just take Vermillion Rd all the way in to the parking area. The walk to Lake Superior from the parking is about 1/4 mile. You will walk through the Ghostly Remains of Vermillion Point Coast Guard Saving Station. The road to get back here is dirt, of course, but it's in pretty good shape. A few ruts and bumps, but we made it and I feel like even most cars could make it if you take your time.

This is a wonderful place to visit. The night sky here is...

Ilwe went the wrong way once, but that was our fault. Once we found the correct path to the beach, it was a rock and lake lovers dream. We got up close and personal with some geese who ignored us while we rock hunted. They had some beautiful flowers that I did not recognize and I liked that you got a great view of the life saving station from the beach. Sadly we didn't get to see any plovers, just seagulls and geese, but it was a beautiful day and the water by the shoreline was...

Beautiful, secluded beach. Was referred here by staff at a Paradise gas station. Full disclosure that they also sent us with the business card of a towing service. Getting here requires a vehicle capable of 10 miles one way of very sandy conditions. We arrived at night since we were looking for Yooperlights. I’d love to see this areas in daylight. It was eerily beautiful at dusk/dark. Dogs are not allowed on the...

I was looking for an “off the beaten path” beach that was less crowded that Whitefish Point. The beach at Vermillion Point fit that description perfectly. The parking lot here is small…..6-8 vehicles tops. With limited parking, over a mile of beach means you always have space to yourself. The road out to Vermillion Point is passable (when dry) for most vehicles and does not require 4 wheel drive.
