I went to The Cotillion last week to see AWOLNATION. It was my first time at this venue. I arrived at 2pm to wait in line, and they had a sign displayed that if you bought and wore a Cotillion t-shirt you got to go to the front of the line. Since we did not want five hours of waiting outside to go to waste, all 9 of us that had been waiting all day bought the $15 t-shirts. When it was time to finally go in though, the line was separated into male and female lines, and the female line was patted down and bags were checked multiple times while the male line got to go in without anything. So even though we had been waiting in line since 2pm and were the only people in line with Cotillion shirts on, they did not honor those t-shirts at all and we did not get to go in first. About five men made it through the line before we did and we didn't get to be front and center on the rail.
During the actual set, there was a fight with a guy behind me trying to get me and my friend off the rail. Security stood right in front of us and watched the whole thing happen, and would not pull the man out of the crowd even when we were all telling them who was causing the fuss. At the end of the song, the lead singer came over to make sure I was okay and told security to keep an eye on that guy. They never took him out of the crowd. AWOL was never able to get that energy back after the incident, and it put a damper on the whole show.
The venue itself is beautiful, and has the greatest sound I've ever heard at a show. The management did not honor their t-shirt promotion though, and security did not do their job (we were catching more crowd surfers than they were). I hope I never have to return to this venue, as it was a...
Read moreFirst I want to say that the only reason I have this one star is because I had to to be able to make a comment. With that being said, I recently went to the cotillion to see one of my favorite bands (Nonpoint), after the 4th song of Nonpoint, security tapped on my shoulder and asked if I had puked I told him no and he then pointed to the floor and says what's that that is wet right there? I look down and there is a crushed beer can on the floor with wet spots around it and I said well it's a beer can that spilt out the liquid when it was crushed. Then he says what is that on your arms then and I replied that it is sweat! I hold my arms up to what little light there was and you could very clearly see that they were glistening of sweat. He proceeds to point to the back and tells me to go so I start walking and at this point I'm thinking okay may e he just wants to have the emt talk to me. As we approach the emt table he points to the left and tells me to keep going so I continue to walk down the hall towards the front entrance. As we pass the merch table I said are you kicking me out and he says yeah and I said for what sweating your kicking me out for fu@#ing sweating and he says yep...we get to the doors and he goes to the next set of doors opens them and says have a good night.....I want everyone to know that I have seen so so many shows at the cotillion and have spent 2 or 3 grand paying to see shows there and I'm not exaggerating!!!! I've seen over 500 bands live and 80% of them have been at the cotillion. I find this to be very unacceptable of the cotillion staff and security...for one i did nothing wrong at all and for me to be treated this way is straight...
Read moreThe staff here tried to say I couldn't bring in my medically necessary walking cane (I'm disabled), finally they let me take it in. When inside I was shoved and hit in the face by a belligerent drunk man who knocked my dentures out and in order to get him out of my face I pressed my cane horizontal against his chest and demanded he step back. He yelled I threatened him with a knife, which I very much did not do and multiple witnesses could attest to the entire situation and how I very much did NOT threaten him, only used my cane to put space between this aggressive man who hurt me and myself. Then as I was leaving the venue after the show security told me I would not be allowed to bring my cane again because I used it to threaten someone. They didn't ask my side of the story, they didn't check the facts of the story, they just immediately believed the drunk man who assaulted me instead. When confronted about it, I was told that none of it mattered and they didn't care, and now they demand I cannot return with my ADA COMPLIANT MEDICAL NECESSARY MOBILITY AID. The entire situation here was disgusting, no other person with a cane was harassed or singled out, and I WAS ASSAULTED AND ONLY USED MY CANE AS A WAY TO PUT SPACE BETWEEN ME AND MY ASSAILANT WHICH THERE ARE MULTIPLE WITNESSES THAT NONE OF THE STAFF BOTHERED TO CHECK WITH. I am appalled by this treatment, and the blatant disrespect from the staff and security when I was actually hurt by a guest on their premises on their watch and they didn't bother to even check their facts. I will never come to this place again and I will be filing a complaint formally about the attempt to remove my...
