Willard Bay South Marina park . Only a few nice thing about this location state park if your on land. The mountains, the water view and the boat launch if your using it. If you get a chance to stay there... pass on it, unless you have a boat and your just doing an overnighter. The park hosts were rude. It felt like they were just there for a place to stay ,not actually manage it. We were directed to park a specific way which we did not desire to do because of the sun and location to the water and sewer hookup. We noted another rv parked in the same manner . And it wasnt blocking or intruding on anyone else's sites.. not that there were many sites being used at this time. Bathrooms dirty, spider webs and need serious oberhaul. Sites were dirty, tables accumulated bbq debris and had drawings all over them, chalk on the ground, propane smell throughout park. People speeding through the camp circle and the hosts yelling profanities at them. An old trailer that was taped together on the front and looked like people had it packed full and using it for hoarding, smelled terrible. No good place to swim, not that u would want to swim from the shore, it was not kid friendly unless u were out on a boat . The Bridge that crosses the canal was donated and has rotten boards and should probably be closed. If u happen to take the bridge be aware if your unfamiliar of the area. STAY ON THE TRAIL . I have no idea what these things were , Burs, death spikes, idk. But they popped my sons bike tires and I had them stuck in my shoes and my stroller tires. No signs anywhere warning to stay on the cement. This could have been really bad. See photos. Aside from having to pack up the rv and re position the rv 3ft for the camp hosts requirements (which were not stated anywhere of how to specifically park), we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset (on the concrete path).
The boat launch was spacious, although we didnt have a boat, we were hoping for an area to take the kids. The parking was massive. Many many people enjoying the water.
I dont ever forsee us staying at this place again.
It's quite sad that it's a State park and it's in that condition. It could be very beautiful...
Read moreThis was a little unknown gem. I've been to lots of water places in Utah, but the first time here today. We went to Pelican beach and found a lovely little beach area. The beach is more like fine gravel rather than sand, but it does the job. There was lots of room for our party without being crowded (we went on a Friday), and it was a short distance from the parking lot. The water was surprisingly very warm and the kids played the whole time. We participated in the Club Rec Water Park which the kids really liked, ages 4-12. There are all sorts of obstacles and play things to be on like a trampoline, swing, towers, water slides, launch pad and climbing wall. A couple things about it: the young kids at the rental shop didn't seem to know which life jackets would fit each person. Mine was too big and my nephew's was too small, and they replied with "you should be fine". You have to swim out to the water park, which is about a 50+ foot swim, so you need to be prepared to get out to it. I became a human raft for my 4 year old so she could get there. There are also not a lot of "get on" spots, so you need to swim around or get someone to help you get onto the inflatables. We just had to keep pulling our kids up since it was challenging for them. Some of the inflatables are very narrow and as an adult I had to scoot along on my bum or fall on my face like a contestant on Wipeout. The small slide does not have water pumped to it like the big one does, so if you went first, your butt would get burned while getting a giant wedgie. And each inflatable tower that you could climb up on had a base that was filled with disgusting algae or something. Thankfully no one fell into it, because it was pretty nasty. Outside of those concerns, we payed for the hour and felt our time was well spent. It was a great day and we all left...
Read moreCame to have a lake day with my family & some close friends & our kids. Our buddy bought a new boat so they were testing it out, before going to Lake Powell. Unfortunetly, it was over heating so we just anchored it, till we left.. Not a big deal, the kids still had a blast, I had a lot of fun on the beach with my friends.
Once we were going to load the boat back up, we rounded the kids for the only boat ride for the day. That's when we were approached by the officers. Suspected DUI, not the case, my husbands son was driving us back & he has his permit to do so. One of the officers was not having it & had us go back to the beach ( hadn't even left the wake zone ).
We get back to beach and my husbands phone was dead so he asked to go charge it. That's when one of the officers tells him, "it's too late for all that", then proceed to PULL HIS GUN on him, while he was heading to our car. That's when his partner gets to the beach and my husband asks if hes being detained & sits on the ground with his hands up (on his own, to show he means no harm).
The officers partner said no, and walked him to the car, where he could show our sons Permit... all the while our daughter is laying under our canopy, crying her eyes out because she's afraid her dad is going to get shot.. My husband shows our sons Permit to the, non-threatening, officer & they leave..
I have never been profiled so hard in my entire existence. We were there for a fun filled lake day & left feeling harrassed. I completely understand the concern to check for a permit, since our son is a minor. But to pull your weapon out over something so minor & to tell us, "it's too late", is beyond me..
This experience has left a very nasty taste in my mouth and we will NEVER be back here. I cannot believe we paid anything to come to a lake just to be...
