day21 (27AUG2024)sanctuary39: trail along edge of field to access loop trails on either side of nonny day brook. contrast between hot sun in field and deep cool shade in woodland is striking, near 10F temperature drop today (low 80s). some impressively large trees near brook. wee 2" fish in brook. my previous visit a decade ago was joyous, frogs leaping away from me with every step across the field.

Since it now does not allow pets, it has gone downhill. But wait, the neighboring dog comes over to the field to take a dump and bark at hikers. Who controls visiting dogs? Used to be...Great place for a short easy half-mile hike. No scenic views, just mixed forest, feral field, and swamp. Meh.
