I have been exploring various trailhead in this area and this one is by far my favorite, as stated in the previous reviews ,it has been burned (controlled)the year before , most of the forrest floor is about chest height new growth now. When you first get on the trail i highly suggest that you have some sort of walking stick or twirl your dog leash in front of you as you walk because their are THICK spiderwebs about every 2 feet . Other than that the majority of the trail is cleanly marked and is mostly down hill to the lake . Its very peaceful out here ,little to no noise from civilization. I took my 6 year old son and it wasn't too far for him (although we didn't walk the whole trail) we walked about 25 min or so and the trail opened up to the lake and we stopped and hung out there. But the trail did continue on we just didn't check it out this day. My son enjoyed playing in the wet sand at the edge of the lake for about an hour. it was absolutely beautiful and peaceful.
