This is certainly one of the more well rounded city parks I’ve ever been to. Teaming with wild life you can hear a plethora of birds. Bird houses are dotted throughout the park. But also there’s signs of turtles, active fishing was taking place even in February, and it seems like a deer haven. The deer here are unafraid. We said hi to one, it looked at us briefly and then went back to trying to scratch its back. There’s a little over three miles if you do the whole figure 8 loop, and it is very flat. The smaller loop of the figure 8 is paved, making it accessible. There is a big bridge that connects the loop to create the figure 8. For people who are looking for more than a walk, there are playgrounds, sledding hills, and even a communal fire not far from the bridge with wood provided. It think this park does an excellent job of bringing the joys of outdoor space to the city. It’s also a favorite place to walk dogs apprenetly, we saw many many dogs. The only detractors for me are that it’s built right around a path of large power lines. It is also butts right up to route 2, so you can here the freeway noise on the smaller side. Both kind of take away from that feeling of “being in nature” and are reminder that you aren’t really outside the city. Cleveland is a big city though, and getting away from that without leaving it is a big ask. This is still a great place for an easy going walk and to go bird watching along the river. Power lines aside, they use the mowed area below them to add habitats for birds - and I suspect the wheat grass that grows there provides lots of seed to the birds...
Read moreI've been coming to this park for over 30 years. They have made vast improvements over those years. Their trails are well maintained as are their bathrooms and picnic areas. Extremely popular park for dog owners. They keep poop bag stations stocked. There are a variety of sized paths that weave through fields, woods and riverside areas. They have several nice lookout areas for those who want to see the Chagrin River without getting too close, and several easy access spots cleared for those who want to get down onto the river bed. They even have an area with stone stairs that go directly to the water that is right near the walk bridge over the river. The two play ground areas that I've been to both have well maintained bathrooms and large pavilions next to them. The pavilions are clean with trash bins, recycling receptacles, and charcoal grills. Both have swing sets too. I would, and have frequently recommended this park to people. I also go in through the Erie road entrance almost every weekend with my own dog. Definitely a great place for the...
Read moreExcellent experience. I hope the eastside remains wooded and stops any further residential and commercial development. There is nothing more calming and natural than living in a wooded area. You don't get this on the westside.
My husband and I explored Chagrin River Park for the first time today on our OneWheels. We navigated the asphalt walking trails, the gravel horse trails, and even went through some of the grass and trees. We spotted groundhogs, deer, countless birds, and rode alongside a bunny for thirty or forty feet. We enjoyed watching children, dogs, and kayakers splash around in the river.
The park is well kept and constructed in such a way that you feel like your deep, inside a forest on every path. There are garbage cans and restrooms at every parking lot, which is about every thousand feet.
Visitors are friendly and inquisitive. If you lose your car keys, tell people. Word spread quickly and someone will find them. I fell a few times and many witnesses came...
