Wonderful, well-maintained Delaware park. Perfect for recreation, particularly walking, hiking, bike riding, and horseback riding. Also a large tennis courts complex where lessons are given by tennis pros. Great for family outings and picnics. If you or your children enjoy bicycling together as a family, you'll love this place. Nice bandstand for open-air concerts. Outdoor ice skating in the winter. 1-1/8 mile oval fitness track with a surface that is more forgiving than pavement and great for jogging or speed walking.
Some great little out-of-the-way corners to discover, too. You can actually walk from here all the way into the City of Wilmington on the excellent Delaware Greenway Trail, which connects Bellevue to footpaths through other parks and woodlands.
Bellevue State Park also contains what is undoubtedly the best disc golf course in Delaware. If you're into disc golf, you must visit this park— you won't be...
Read moreDo not give a dime to this place. I got off work and raced to watch my son race at the park. I did not have the $4. The man at the gate just starred. Not only was he not going to help me but he explained how he was going to call the park police if I park inside the park and wait for my son who is in his park racing. He and like others at the park could care less. Have the bus stop on the busy road that parrellels I95 because that is much safer. Sure I could have walked out at the end of shift but my last OR patient needed things like a trip to the emergency room, IV fluid, EKG and other things that keep sick people alive. I wish I could choose the people I serve and save the lives of; he and these park employees would not one of them!! Over $4.. $4 isn't even worth bad PR!! ...
Read moreMy review is for fishing and pricing, which is where this place is horrid. I was charged $8 after already paying $8 to fish on the Brandywine River which I had my receipt for. I was told Bellevue is not part of the same state park system. How does that work? A Delaware State Park is not the same as other Delaware State Parks? Moving on...
Who is in charge of your fishery? I watched a man live line bluegill to catch a bass. When I saw it, I was amazed at how sick it looked. The bass was 23 inches. It should weigh anywhere from 7.4 to 8.4 pounds. It only weighed 3.22 pounds. That's nearly impossible. I checked it on his scale and my scale. They obviously don't feed the fish and unless you went back creek and caught 1 pounders (at most) it was a waste of...
