Definitely a must visit place for everyone of any age!! Only $10 per person which we felt was a great deal. All the staff are all so friendly and knowledgeable! There is so much to discover here that you will want to come back again. We didn't even get to walk to everywhere because there is so much to see and do. We brought our 14 year old daughter and our 7 year old nephew and they had a blast. So did my husband and I!
There are four buildings to go through including the main building. There is a school house full of school history. A newer building with lots of items on display. Also there a solar run building but we did not go inside. The biggest building which is the main building had lots of things to touch and discover. All very interesting and educational. The kids got to hold a lizard and a snake. Also, they got to look at a couple of really big tortoises. There are also some fish and another snake to look at. Outside, there is a lot of different things to enjoy around the building like the gardens, the musical area, the whispering satellites, and an awesome garden kaleidoscope thet you control. You can find multiple hiking trails are around the property and are very beautiful. Takings them will lead to some very interesting places! It can be a very fun all day activity so I'd suggest bringing a little sack lunch with you.
It looks like dogs are welcomed outside on the grounds but not in the building. Please pick up after yourself, this place is to nice to disrespect it. They also have very nice clean bathrooms inside the main building.
Rain or shine stop in. You won't regret it! You don't need kids to have a great time here and learn...
Read moreI first visited Raven Hill Discovery Museum as a Kid, and I loved the experience. Every time I went up north to our cabin, I would beg my parents to take us to Raven Hill. My favorite part as a child was the animal room. The animal room was an immersive experience where one learned about biology and interacted with the different animals. At this time, they had a 10 ft Burmese python that we needed our whole family to hold.
This experience sparked my curiosity towards biology, and I ended up following this passion. I am now 23, and I recently graduated from CMU as a pre-med student studying Neuroscience and Biomedical Sciences. I had the chance to go back to Raven Hill this past year with my family, and it was a great experience. They have added a lot to the place, and we spent a few hours exploring the different exhibits. Going back as an adult, I am very impressed with the creative ways to teach science and history. These types of hands-on experiences teach far more than what can be taught in a classroom. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone. Especially to families with younger kids. The museum's explanation of the different exhibits is a great way to practice reading and teach kids that learning can be fun.
Thank you for everything you...
Read moreThe Raven Hill Discovery Center is a place that is phenomenal for children ages 3-99+. Going to the center is a 15 minute drive from the infamous SkyBridge at Boyne City. When you first arrive, you initially are presented with some small amounts of construction taking place and plenty of parking. It is a beautiful property with an engaging indoor center for all ages. There are multiple areas of hands on experiences, and an animal room that is ran by the sweetest lady who will tell you stories that will make you laugh. They take in exotic animals that can no longer be cared for and allows all ages to interact and learn. After going through the indoor portion, there is a map to guide you through the many hands on exhibits outside. The most amazing parts I thought were the hand built cedar treehouse and the fabulous kaleidoscope planter. The views on this property are breathtaking and have made for wonderful memories. Take a chance and come explore. I will happily come back and invite all who visit this area to see this...
