This farm is awesome! We had such a fun time. The coos were so chill. George let me hug him and pet him behind the ears. He is so sweet! Isla was such a pretty girl. Merida was shy but loves kissing your hand. If I had a hammock I would have just chilled all day with them. I’d get nothing accomplished if they were in my backyard. I’d cuddle all day.
The goats are so cute, just like children they vie for your attention. Some were acting like Stewie from Family Guy…Mommy, mommy, mama, mom…but I loved the goats because they really let you get in and pet them and play. DO be prepared, they jump on your legs like puppies. It didn’t bother me one bit. I loved the attention. ( they gave me more attention than my 16year old) so that’s a win in my book.
Fair warning there are chickens. I’m scared of them a bit but I just ignored them and they didn’t bother me at all. For me it was like just a part of the background.
The owners are so friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed chatting with them. It’s was nice going for a private tour because they just chatted like friends would. Remember it’s a farm wear shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Be prepared to get your hands dirty. (That’s the best part and the most fun.) I literally didn’t think about anything else except having fun. Stress free day. 10 out of 10 I would...
Read moreWhat an epic experience! Seeing Scottish Highland Coos face-to-face has long been a bucket list activity for my wife and me. Today we had the pleasure of meeting Kyle who led us on a tour of Olde Skye Farms in Wilson, NC. Kyle has a goal in educating the public on the ways of the Scottish Coo. Our tour started with a personal introduction to some young Scottish Coos. Kyle gave us some basic knowledge about the breeds we were dealing with and answered all of our questions. We got to brush them and they seemed to really enjoy that. There was plenty of time for photos and Kyle was kind enough to set us up with a fantastic group photo as well. Next was up close and personal time with a youngster that was just getting weaned from bottle feeding. Fiona is her name and softening your heart is her game. After a short time she plopped right down at our feet and we could all rub and pet her. What a treat! Lastly, was a walk on the wild side with a large group of Nigerian Dwarf goats. These guys gobbled feed from our hands while Kyle, once again, fielded all of our questions about his goats and free-range chickens. It was an honor and a pleasure to add this to my list of life...
Read moreFirst off, if you are thinking about going- DO IT! It was such an amazing experience. It was very educational and interesting to be able to not only see and hear about the animals, but also interact with them. Kyle was amazing! He told different facts about the animals and the care and maintenance it took to have them, and really took the time to answer questions (i had a lot haha). The whole thing felt like visiting a friend, animals aside, Kyle was lovely and very nice! This was a surprise from my partner for my birthday- needless to say it was the best birthday present ever. I really enjoyed the calm environment. It was just my partner and myself with Kyle, where we got to visit each group of animals. It was such a unique and relaxing experience to just exist around these beautiful animals and really hear about them. We were able to pet and feed all the animals, I was able to hold a baby goat, and got to brush and sit next to the cows! Thank you so much for not only allowing me to visit your farm, but for all you do with taking care of the animals and educating others. This was an experience I will never forget and best believe I will be...
