Went camping this past weekend at Crane Mill Park (16700 Cranes Mill Rd Canyon Lake, TX 78133). Site 33 was large and had beautiful views. Lake levels are at a all time low and swimming not an option. #kidsactivities #thingstodo #texas #outdoors #camping #canyonlake

#1 issue: The time restrictions for entry and exit are too late in the morning and too early at night. We finally got set up the next morning after being 10 minutes late the night before and not able to enter the park for the night we paid. We couldn't even go watch fireworks the next night because the gates would close and lock us out. #2 issue: The park ranger harassed us on day 1 after we finally got set up, and tried to make us move our kids to another spot. We are a family of 5 and 3 of us stay in our truck camper and 2 of our boys stay in the tiny tear drop trailer. After 30 minutes of negotiations we were forced to pay double due to his power trip, money hungry disposition. #3 issue: No amenities, nothing to do, no benefits added for paying double. There is a restroom with showers, but bugs, spiders, heat, and lack of air flow make it miserable quickly. #4 issue: In spite of having quiet time, an RV was allowed to have a constant running chirping and annoying anntena/internet set up. It was a piercing and high pitch sound that you just couldn't escape, even with music and the rain, it could not be drowned out. #5 issue: While exploring other parts of the park, and after paying double, we found another RV set up, much larger yet similar to ours, that had a cargo trailer with a door, windows, A/C, and power that was fully converted into a camper in the same camping spot......park ranger said this was not allowed and yet there it was.....park ranger said he didn't want to be seen as hand picking who he enforced so called rules upon, and yet here was a largely exaggerated set up compared to ours... We will NOT be returning to this park.

Restrooms and shower areas are totally infested with brown recluse nests and spiders, black widows and scorpions. It's was so dirty in the restrooms and shower area and the heater was stuck on so the temperature was a 120°. Cleaning lady couldn't even clean the place due to heat exhaustion after 5 minutes. I almost passed out taking a cold shower after 3 days and couldn't stand not showering. My 8 year old granddaughter was bit and became very sick. I was bit also but managed to kill the spider before being fully bitten. I'm still sick because of the bite. Disgusting filthy facility and I do not recommend ever going to Crane's Mill Park in Texas. Nasty Nasty restrooms and showers. Should be shut down until fully fumigated and cleaned properly for their patrons. That is if they cared and I don't believe they do at all. Requested a refund and was denied. I will not stop until I get at least the $$ I had to spend to go to another RV park that was emaculant. Jellystone park was immaculate compared to Cranes Mill Park. One of the park ranger stays at Jellystone and not even the park he works at. Know why? Crane's Mill Park is the worst. He stays elsewhere so that right there means They are a gross, filthy, disgusting park.. Sad when Rangers don't stay at the park they work at, due to the Rangers running the Park DO NOT CARE ABOUT US THEY'RE PATRONS.... TERRIBLE CONDITIONS DONT GO TO CRANE'S MILL AND CAMP..

Beautiful scenery driving in. However, due to all the curves and corners on the road (and a neighborhood before you enter the park) it makes it very easy to get confused even with a gps or find yourself getting pulled over because the short notice on speed limits changes. The entire place was covered in cops waiting to pull people over(granted it was the end of the month). As for the park itself, was fine if not a little dodgy. People pulled over on the side of the road walking around in the road with while talking on their cell phones, beer cans, drivers skulking around and staying parked in their cars longer than 15mins with their engines running, some people setting up some photo shoot(???), not saying hello and getting glared at instead(pretty minor gripe, but certainly added to the dodginess of the place). Outside of that, probably one of the best places on canyon lake or naturalists. The wild hog population is significantly less than the other parks meaning you can find things normally reserved for state parks. There's tiny entrances to caves and karsts in abundance, the bird population was outta sight, and some fossils (not as good as other parks). In my honest to God opinion, unless you have an absolute need to go there or maybe if the cops can stop with the speed trap bs and ask people why they're in the middle of the road blaring rap music from their cars. Then go. You can get a better experience at potter's...
