The Ashuelot Covered Bridge in Ashuelot, New Hampshire is remarkably well-maintained. It just came up unexpectedly while we were driving. Painted white on the outside with red trim and roof, the bridge has a nameplate on both sides and passenger walkways om either side. We didn't get out to examine it as it is a frequently crossed bridge. It is a treasure. I love how the light appears halfway in the bridge, the sunshine...

AKA Village Station bridge, built 1865. Considered by local historians to be one of New Hampshire's most elaborate bridges. some sources credit Nicholas Powers as the builder of the bridge, which was originally used to transport wood across the river for use by the Ashuelot Railroad. a patent for the design was held by Connecticut architect Ithiel Town in 1835.
