Not local for this Jersey Boy by any means, but it came through on my feed today, and I thought I'd share my disappointment with everyone. Given the experiences I've had lately at various covered bridges with ignorant motorists, this felt appropriate. A beautiful covered span in Maine dating back to 1840 was dealt a serious wound by an overweight commercial truck. Its driver obviously ignored the weight limit signs and went right through the deck into the river. Maine once had over 100 covered bridges. The count was 9 before the incident. Now it's 8 and half. I am hoping the Township, County, and state will step in and ensure that this old girl gets repaired instead of...

Beautiful, historic bridge that I hope they can do 'justice' in the...

Rocks are very slippery, so I suggest entering the water to the right through the sandy shallow area. There are a handful of ropes hanging from different spots on the bridge. Current is a little strong, so not very suitable for people who can't actually swim. There is a shallow spot that goes out like 10 feet, shallow enough for children around 5-10 years old, then it drops off. Overall a great...
