Windsor Community Park (G-Maps lists it as Deforest) is definitely one of the better parks I have been to in the greater Dane County area. Or for this or that matter - in Wisconsin. It is located in a sweeping new development directly north of highway 19. Further, it is one of the best parks designed for people in wheelchairs, little kids on bikes or rollerblading in a July heat. It has ramps for wheelchairs/walkers leading almost EVERYWHERE in the park. Whether between the two shelters, or from a shelter to the splash pad and/or from one end to the other. WCP has two shelters (it should be mentioned the main shelter has considerably more picnic tables). In addition:

-- a splash pad -- two separate playgrounds -- a zipline -- a mini bike path for adolescents replete w pertinent signage -- a larger adult-oriented path traverses the eastern edge of the park, connecting to ?? -- an air pump for tires/balls -- scenery to the east, in which I am unclear whether development will persist (some of this scenery is akin to that of Native American burial mounds...idk??) -- an online app for kids at the main playground w the zipline -- plenty of basketball courts -- plenty of tennis courts All of this, I would think, would be a kid's paradise...perhaps I'm too old & irrelevant, though.

The afternoon I was there was almost an easy-going afternoon like any other. But then the shining sun gave way to an ever boisterous and disobedient squall line. A squall line that scared off the several other people & cars there when I'd arrived - I stood alone, my car the only car in sight. I realized, this park was pretty damn awesome, as the dark clouds invaded &...
