Jesse Helms Park — Attraction in Wingate

Beautiful park, large covered area for restrooms and concession stand. The concessions were closed when were there for a youth retreat gaby match. The fields have some type of grass or weed growing in them that leaves small splinters in your skin. What kind of park is closed Saturday and Sunday and only operates April 1- November 15 btw park closes at 4pm right despite what the website says was told due to staffing. I live a few miles from this park and feel it is a total waste of tax payer money since we get hardly anytime to use it. Nice park out in the middle of nowhere .. Has a nice Playground, Large, Clean Bathrooms , and a plethora of playing fields .. My Grandson plays Rugby and we've watched 2 of his matches here ..There is a concession stand , BUT, it wasn't open either time we were there , so bring drinks ,snacks , chairs and pop up tent if you don't want to cook...
