Just got here and trash at the campsite. We have a dog. There's staples on the benches and table. Don't wear shorts at Campsite 31. Will update again. Just wow!! There was a Pepsi bottle not from from the fishing rod holders. Couldn't get to it because it wasn't safe. Trash on the nature trails(booze bottles, water and Gatorade bottles, yogurt container and tires. Lots of fishing lines tangled up in roots.) The people who do this, don't be lazy. Just pick up after yourself. Have a knife on you and take care of your fishing line. I found a huge battery(the big ones for a lantern) burried in a small pile of leaves going to the bathroom. If we weren't much of a walker, didn't have a dog and we stayed specifically at our campsite...I would give more stars. We could have injured ourselves on the table and bench. Our dog could have had a fishing hook caught in he's paw. Hopefully this place is better if we decide to come back. P.s. The people at the desk are really friendly. You have to have your dog on a 6 foot chain I think it is at...

We camped here for 3 nights in late July. It’s the 2nd SC State Park we’ve camped at. They are very nice facilities and Lake Wateree is no exception. They have 2 campgrounds suitable for RVs or trailers.
The largest campground has 72 sites all with water and electricity hookups but no sewer (there is a dump station). Many of the spots are on the water.
The other campground has 28 spots with full hookups — but it is a newer campground so all the trees are small and there is no shade. None of the spots are on the water. The spots in the newer campground are also much closer to each other.
So, when we go back, we will again stay in the older campground because of all the shade and a bit more privacy. There is also a nice boat ramp, and there are boat tie-down spots adjacent to some of the campsites. A beautiful spot for camping...
Read moreA pretty good part of the state park system. Camp sites in the loop are waterfront or a few that are water view. Lots of tree cover in this area. Some minor flooding on the interior campsites, but it has rained for almost the last 3 weeks. There is a primitive camping area for groups. Parking for that seems limited. No bathroom facilities here...you would have to drive to the main camping area. No access to water either. There is a new camping area under construction that was in limited use. I was not impressed. It did have electricity and the sites were water view. The camping area was completely concrete pad and there was no tree cover in that section. There also seemed to be a drainage issue on the roadway leading to this area...water running across the roadway. No bathroom here yet, but was told one...
