The Liberty Hill Wildlife Management Area is a great little piece of nature. There are many trails to explore depending on when you visit. Cool place to hunt or just explore. You must check in at on of the two kiosks located at each end of the main road. There are 15+ gates that will be open or closed depending on the season and are under SCDNRs control. There is no rhyme or reason as to when the trails are open or not. There are a lot of animal food plots on the trails and occasionally you'll see a 4-legged critter roaming around. Trails are marked with signs about 10-15 off ground indicating foot traffic only, ATV, etc. The terrain of Liberty Hill WMA is very different throughout the park. You'll encounter red clay, gravel, sand, rock etc and after a good rain, the red clay becomes peanut butter sludge and very slippery. We've seen many pick-up trucks stuck in the mud.
