Garvin Heights City Park — Attraction in Winona

The park has great views. If you drive in your car you go through a neighborhood to get to it. The hiking path isn't well maintained and it's difficult to figure out where you park if you want to hike up. Park near the intersection of Lakeview and Garvin Heights to take the path. It's a nice hike but the stairs are not maintained and there are areas that are slippery even when it's not wet. Entire hike going up took us 13 minutes with a short rest to catch our breath. Amazing overlook of the city of Winona. A great place to go and have your father in law talk about the old times growing up there. Its easy to see different areas and get a good look at the town.

If I have visitors to the Winona area, this is the first place I would think to take them. By far the best view in the Winona area. It's free and fun for all ages. If you want the best pictures, take a left at the main viewing area and follow the small trail down and around the corner. Although it's not as safe as the main viewing area, as long as you're not stupid, it's an awesome place...
