West Orange Trail — Attraction in Winter Garden

This is one of my favorite places in the world. I've logged many miles by bike and run on this trail. One of the best trails in Florida. Curves and neighborhoods keep things interesting. There are some sections with trees but development is taking over most spots. Still, they've managed to keep the close to nature feel. You can rent bikes at the trail heads in Winter Garden or Oakland, at least on weekends. (Not sure about weekdays; call to find out.) You can easily log 50 or 60 miles round trip if you did the entire trail. Starts in Apopka, goes through Ocoee, then Winter garden, then Oakland, then minneola, then Clermont, and beyond about 10 more miles. There are several trail heads with parking--the best is either Winter garden station, Chapin station, Oakland (county line station), or Clermont, depending on what's closer to you. Parking in Winter Garden gets crowded on weekends and nice holiday days. Best place to eat along the route is Winter Garden, which has several restaurants visible from the trail. There is also a subway at a gas station in Oakland, and a restaurant on the lake in Clermont (wish that place had healthier menu items -- was more like bar food). Great bike trail. It's well paved, wide and pretty flat. The trail goes through some beautiful communities, especially in Oakland, and I love riding through old Historic Winter Garden. If you make a pit stop here, I suggest The Crooked Can Brewery, Urban Flats and Axum Coffee. Beyond Historic Winter Garden, I would travel in groups, as it gets a little sketchy through some areas but mostly you're in the middle of nowhere alone. I recommend groups of 3-4+ for...

Its an easy trail meant for long family rides, really like it a lot, the people that go over and locals are typically really nice around the area and the only reason im rating it 4 stars and not 5 its because there are some areas that at night it super dark absolutely not lights at all and it would be easier and more comfortable to ride being able to see what around you, other than that its a really nice place to...
