It's approximately a 3ish mile kayak from the public boat landing in Winthrop on Lake Cobbosseecontee. If you're a lighthouse hunter or kayak adventurer or water sport of any kind kind of person, I recommend this trip. As a kayaker, I have found the other boaters on the lake friendly, respectful and cautious. It is one of my favorite lighthouses to visit. For those that don't know this lake has a pretty cool history, it is fun to learn if you are going to visit. There are no public bathrooms /no porter potties here. Carry in carry out. And they do frequently have a milfoil inspector checking all water crafts, so a nudge to ensure your boat is clean. Happy water sporting and light house peeping! There is a state boat launch on Turtle Run Road in Winthrop as well as a state boat launch in Monmouth Me.
