It's a great little campground. There is fishing, hiking, swimming, and a few great playgrounds (including a big, unique playscape by the swimming area).... but no other recreational activities. My only major complaint is the trees in the wooded section (pictured). All branches are up very high, so they offer zero campsite privacy...there isn't a single site with any privacy. This is what lost a star in my rating. The wooded sites are much bigger than the ones up front, though, so at least you're not right on top of your neighbors. As for the swimming, it's amazing and almost always very warm. The bottom is sandy with no seaweed or slimy spots and only rarely do you see a tiny fish. You can see all the way to the bottom and there are pretty snail shells for the kids to collect. They keep it VERY clean, consistently. They allow floats. My preteen daughter usually hates swimming in lakes because of visibility and fish phobias, but she adores this spot. Rules are enforced, but they don't babysit you or nitpick. You're pretty much left alone, so long as you aren't being a nuisance to others. Prices are cheap, and you can buy wood, delivered to your campsite. There is no on-site store, but the marathon is only about three minutes away.

Campsites are shaded, easily accessible, small. The bathrooms smell like an outhouse. The showers are clean but you have to hold the button down to keep it on longer than a few seconds as there are no knobs. We were told they have electric and water. We were given a site with electric only. Extra cars or guests have to pay a 6$ fee. The fire pit is a small tire rim buried in the ground. I saw no convenient grills. 25$ a night. Rude host. Will not be back.

When it comes to spending time with the family local or just traveling to camp or making a stop to get out the car herrick is by far the best place to go! Monster bass! Tons of bluegills, pumpkinseeds and the occasional crappie! There’s multiple beach areas with a special made swimming area with a park… $6 to get in pass daily $16 year pass (locals) $3 a day boat pass yearly is 12-16$!! Best spot to go! We go there multiple times a week

Great place to hangout, camp, fish all of it! Been coming here for years. Just started bringing my kayak in there and got my "permit" sticker thing that is required to launch it. And now everytime i bring it in instead up straight up asking or checking my kayak for the sticker they basically harrass you until they see it or u tell them. Had some older lady watch me leave and go to the camping side to fish i come back maybe 45 mins later and she seen i had my day pass on my window wich means i already been thru there! And she still wanted to stop and harass me about my kayak an didnt believe i had my sticker instead of looking she just kept being rude, even after i said i had it. Dont you think if i got a day pass an been to both sides already they have already checked or asked about a sticker? I mean come on its basically a pond the sticker is kinda uncalled for as it is. But maybe next time actually check for the sticker or straight up ask if i got it instead of asking me if im launching it and repeating urself even after i...

Would not recommend for families/large groups. We had our annual family/friends camping trip here this weekend. There were 4 sites booked by our group. The beach was a car ride away and the water was disgusting and green. The fire rings are placed into the ground, not on them, so that is a hazard with children potentially walking into the fire. The sites were not cleaned prior to our arrival. There was broken vape pens and a knife found on our site. They stated one of our 2nd tents was too big and needed to come down and use one of their rentals. The 2nd tent was a Tee-Pee style with only room for 2 twin mattresses. We asked about the cleanliness of the "rental" and was told that they sweep them out and disinfect them after each use. When questioned if they could confirm there were not bed bugs in the tent, the ranger didn't answer and just let us keep the teepee tent up. The trees were nice for the hammocks, but unfortunately, this is not a place we...
