While Lake Wentworth isn't the biggest lake in the area, or in NH for that matter, shadowed by the much bigger and much more popular Lake Winnipesaukee, it is, in my opinion a much quieter, clean and better option.
Long story short, I was able to spend a couple of amazing days in a lake-front house there through friends of my fiancee's family and had an absolute blast. The water is slightly warm, super clean and there's plenty of beautiful biodiversity to admire without it being ruined my algae. There's fish, there's loons and there's even a small family of bald eagles. It's also very serene and while I'm not much of a nature person, I cannot wait to return there.
I just hope that people don't catch on and start invading it like they did the other, bigger lake. It's definitely a fun time whether you want to admire the lake, take a boat out or kayak. I highly recommend it. It's kind of a shame that it falls right into Romney's roaming grounds but what can I say, the man has good taste when it...
Read moreI had a reservation for July 4th at Wentworth state park, when I was making the reservation I looked up everything, its says dogs allowed on a leash. So I took my puppy. Keep in mind he’s less than 5 pounds, very tiny. Getting there the workers at the park were very rude about the whole situation, practically yelling at me and my family. I told them I would go drop off my puppy and to let the rest of my family in. That didn’t happen either. They have no customers service ethic and that’s coming from someone that has been working in the customer service industry for more than 10 years! It surprised me because something like that had never happen to me at any New Hampshire state park. I stated I wanted a refund and they said they couldn’t do that either. It was my first time going to Wentworth and I will definitely not...
Read moreLots of picnic tables, several fire pits, very shady (pine trees, mostly,) bathrooms & changing rooms. Bring tablecloth, because there may be pitch on tables, plus, it''s a good idea, anyway. The lake is clear and swimming is great. No lifeguard, so the swimming area is marked by roped buoys. But still adequate for a good refreshing time in the water, especially for the kids. NOTE:If you have a walking handicap, the grounds are covered with the long roots of the pine trees, so tread carefully and preferrably, have a companion to support you. Been going to Wentworth State Park for around 60 years -- brings back lots...
