Always has been and still is a fantastic park. Considering the park is 69 years old, and many of the rides are vintage, you’d never know it with how extremely well-maintained they are. The only thing that makes this place feel dated is that it was built in the 50’s … yes it’s that old, but it looks exactly as new as it did the day it opened. The owner cares about this place and does an amazing job keeping it fresh and new. It’s charming, clean, and an absolute blast if you’re traveling with littles - target age is about two to ten years old, so don’t expect bigger kids to like it as much as your little ones. If your kid is old enough to know the truth about Santa, don’t be surprised if they don’t see the appeal here.
But for those this is targeted to, you won’t find a better value and a more fun day in the pikes peak region. Lines are short, rides are awesome, and kids can frequently ride multiple times without even getting off the ride. Staff is friendly and very much bought in to “the show.” Food options are plentiful, high quality, and reasonably priced. Plenty of places to sit and even bring your own picnic lunch. Lots of cute shopping options. And the views are absolutely fantastic.
Be ready to exercise, because it’s built on the side of a mountain (the world-famous pikes peak no less). And that’s ok … no offense but none of the overweight, sloppy scooter-riders you’d see buzzing around any of the Orlando theme parks can make it here. But not to worry, u less you have serious mobility issues, people young and old in below average to above average shape can easily navigate around. And there are plenty of places to sit and rest when needed. The park is not so big that it’s overwhelming, but they manage to pack lots of rides, shopping, and dining into a small space.
Lastly, holy cow is this place clean! Not a single piece of trash or mess anywhere. We opened the park at 10 am and closed it at 5 pm (the kids didn’t want to leave), and not once did we see trash, mess, sticky spills, anything. Restrooms are fresh and well-kept.
To the staff and owners - thank you for maintaining this treasure for generations to enjoy. Can’t imagine the pikes peak region without it. This cannot be an easy undertaking in this day and age, and in this climate and location no less, but visitors probably take it for granted. This is a true gem and a must see for any families, local or visiting. Don’t think...
Read moreWhat a great place to visit for the day! So it would appear. While my son (5yrs old) had a blast there was a few disappointments. 1st they want you to buy a wrist band and that makes sense for kids over 42 inch tall and then THEY have a list of rides that is printed out and handed to you, that require, an adult so extra tickets can be purchased. What they fail to tell you or because they have three signs posted somewhere in the front at the entrance the ZIP line requires all riders to have a wristband. Nothing is posted at the ride location so if you miss the signs and you wait 30 plus minutes in line the operator will tell you no luck no ride w/o wristband. It would be too easy to post a sign at the ride or even include the writing in the handout they provide customers. 2nd the candy cane roller coaster, not on the list of needing an adult and wristband is required lucky no line so not much time was wasted. But still a huge disappointment for my son when he was finally tall enough but under the age to ride by himself and I did not have a wristband because I was only riding (the rides that require and adult). 3rd it rains for about 10 min with enough time to start the rides and air dry. Granted it was close to closing time but still about 20 mins left, and they close the park rides. I must give credit where credit is due Shane the VP was very respectful and understanding when I brought my issue about the zip line, and he personally walked up and allowed my son to ride on the zip line. Most of the operators were awesome and friendly. The gals at the entrance, they did not like that I disapproved of their unknown policy of the zip line and that I was not going to tolerate allowing my son to be broken hearted about not riding the zip line. They reluctantly called for the park VP (Shane). I do hope the park does fix simple notifications about park policies for customers. The handout is already given, and it is way too simple to post up additional information signs. Now it is well worth the $30 plus dollars for the wrist band if you intend to ride everything. It is a great place to take the family and to let the kids ride carnival rides. This is a great place to help remind youngsters that Santa still keeps a list during the summer ! The prices are reasonable, the food is amusement park food. I would take my son back and I would get a wrist band for myself as long as I rode at...
Read moreWhat a wonderful and nostalgic park! I honestly was not sure what to expect—something between the Cheyenne Zoo and It’s a Small World—but there is so much here at this little gem of an amusement park! First, I will say that the staff is super friendly and cool—there is very much a family-run feel. The buildings and grounds are well kept, and rather than being a concrete jungle, the rides are tucked in the trees along the side of the mountain. We visited just a few days before Christmas, and there was ample parking and very few rides where we had to wait. The longest wait time by far was the zip line sleigh and the line to see Santa at the end of the day. I have a 3.5 year old and a 5 month old, and I was pleased that he could ride most of the rides (the older one) and there were several I could ride with the little one either in my lap or in the front carrier. All four of us were even able to pack onto one ferris wheel car. Also, I really appreciate that they have a nursing lounge and several clean restrooms spread throughout the park. The food situation (because I was nervous): They have three buildings in the park with burgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs, corn dogs, ham and cheese, turkey sandwiches, fries, soft drinks, coffee, and cocoa. Servings are school cafeteria size, decently tasty, and affordable. You can also bring your own food in. There is an outdoor eating area near the toy store with heaters. Pro tips: If you’re going during holiday time, you must buy tickets ahead. Dress in layers because it can be very pleasant in the sun and chilly in the shade. Don’t wait til the end of the day to see Santa like we did, because the line gets long and it’s cold. The grills and fryers close at 3:30/4. It’s very hilly, so the vibe is front carriers, not strollers or wagons for babies, and make the bigger kids walk under their own power. Finally, visit the post office to mail a postcard from the...
