Was here for our family reunion. There was more park than family that showed up, unfortunately. Didn't appreciate the 2-2.5 hour drive (each way) either to get here when historically the location was much, much closer. Anywho, there was lots of parking of course because again, not much family came. Couldn't really navigate in the park due to lack of signage which made it hard to find our shelter (that didn't have a visible sign on it). The shelter we were in, was close to a playlot and a basketball court that the kids loved. There were plenty of tables for us to use and even working lights and electrical outlets which were accessible. The port-o-potties really blew my mind too, as I was expecting to see the type of restrooms that are usually found in park districts of this magnitude, e.g., in a small building with private stalls and sinks with hand dryers. And, we had to go back to the parking lot to use them! Overall, Emrickson Park is great for the locals and for events of...
Read moreWow! Beautiful rolling green hillscapes surrounded by trees and shrubbery, beautifully maintained. Great walking trails throughout, as well as various sports enclosures, swim park, pond, jungle gym, covered picnic table areas, and more. An easily walkable distance from the Square...and the library! There are at least 3 entrances to the park, which could be confusing but actually seems to make it more convenient to get in and out, and probably helps before and after one of the many fun events that take place in the park. There are two young trees in the park with commemorative plaques at their bases, celebrating the birth of the Båb and the birth of Bahå'u'llåh, founders of the Babà Faith and the Bahå'à Faith, respectively, planted by the local...
Read moreAccording to an online map, there are several playgrounds in Emricson Park. Iâve visited two of the playgrounds that are in the south end of the park near the South Street entrance. One has sand, slides and climbing apparatus and is near a pond with geese. The other is right across the park road in a large shaded area. There are swings, as well as an old and new playground near each other. The new playground has slides and climbing apparatus and is in good condition. The old playground has a cement painted elephant and camel for climbing on, a wooden teeter totter and a castle-themed play area that is old and in need of many repairs...
