My family and I have been camping here for years. Great lake, and facilities are decent. On a recent trip there we stayed for a week in 2 campsites. Unfortunately the one I was in was already booked for the weekend following, so everyone went home and my brother and I were going to finish out the weekend in his campsite since we had it for Friday and Saturday. I cleaned my campsite up and pulled my camper to the far south boat ramp parking where there are 38 parking spots, 15 are truck and trailer parking so I parked my pickup and camper in the furthest south truck and trailer spot inside the lines completely out of the way, locked everything up and went back to my brothers site where we started cooking dinner and drinking a few beers. The park ranger came and told me I had to move it now and would not let me wait until the morning. Told me if I couldn't find someone to move it now I would have to drive it up to the main boat ramp after drinking because the lot gets packed. Then he called the sherriff to watch me and they both sit in the parking lot and waited on me to move it. Luckily I had a friend coming in who had not been drinking and she drove it the 2 miles away to the overflow parking. After all of this there were a total of 2 vehicles parked in the lot the entire rest of the night. Thanks for working well with the public government employees. Won't camp here again, and hope someone sees this that can make...
Read moreI wanted to like it here, but it is pretty over crowded. We booked a spot that said it could accommodate a 60’ RV(?).. well, it was actually 3 sites sharing one tiny parking lot. It was completely full so we parked our van next to it, on the grass. The ranger came and said we needed to move into the parking lot, right next to a huge RV. We had to approach the people in the RV and ask them to move vehicles so we could park in the camping spot we reserved and paid for. It could have been nice if we could have parked next to our picnic table - but sleeping in this parking lot with 6 other vehicles was unpleasant to say the least. Will avoid this park on our next trip through Oklahoma. Zero social distancing. Very overcrowded. The photo shows the lot that was expected to hold 3 large RVs plus extra vehicles. All these vehicles are from one group. We had to ask them to move so we could fit our camper van in the lot. That huge RV hooked up to the only water - so no one else had any water access. There also aren’t adequate restrooms for the number of sites. This is our 9th campground to stay at on a 2 week road trip and it was by far the dirtiest, most disgusting restroom. No toilet paper. No soap. Just gross.
1 year later and many campgrounds later - this is still by far the worst place...
Read moreQuick overnight stay, on a busy weekend. We were grateful to get one of the last reservable sites. Site 50. The not so good: 1) LONG hike to a vault toilet with a door that would not fully close. 2) Fire pit was full of burnt beer cans, trash, and cigarette buts. 3) Wooded area behind site 50 was littered with trash and used toilet paper. 4) Multiple large dogs running off leash. This campground has so much potential if the Corps would update with a restroom in each area, keep the sites clean, and patrol on a...
