My friends, their 2 kids (9 & 3), and I visited on Memorial Day 2024. Parking is a little weird here, but the place was not super crowded. The "beachy" vibes that you may see in other Google reviews aren't accurate.. The shore is actually very rocky. However, we've had a lot of rain this season, so the water level may just be higher and hiding the sandy parts. 🤷‍♀️ It was a good swim, though. If you plan to visit, definitely bring your bug spray and look out for ants!! They are everywhere.

3 stars because ants and the restrooms were locked and inaccessible during our visit.

This place DOES close. The sign says 7pm, but the park service didn't kick everyone out until just after sundown (aboit 9pm). Although, that could have been a holiday-specific exception.

Remember to...

Great place to swim, people in the area have always been extremely polite. Unfortunately the only reason I am giving it a 2 star is because of the following: The grounds are not kept up as well as they should be, so you may wind up walking through 12 to 18 inches of weeds to get to the water Bathrooms need condemned pretty much (They did add a portable bathroom, but that’s just a temp fix) Be prepared to wear shoes all the way up to the waterline because of the stickers/burrs that are extremely painful to walk on in the grass that are not easy to see until they are in your feet (As long as you wear flip flops or swimming shoes you...

Not sure who is responsible for the upkeep of this park, but whomever it is, they have some work to do. We went there for a family birthday party and got there around 3:30 in the afternoon. The drive into the park has large potholes, the entrance to the bathrooms near the boat ramp are weed covered and they were locked, the gate so you could drive or walk to the picnic tables near the swim beach was locked. The bathrooms near the swim beach were also locked. We parked near the boat ramp and had to walk through high weeds/grass to get to the swim beach. Once there, we had a good time but it definitely...

This park has not changed much since the 1980's. A much needed upgrade for the restrooms, really awful. Also, be sure and wear shoes. The grass is full of weeds and stickers. I would also recommend a handicap access path. There is a concrete walkway that ends right behind the restrooms, but cannot take wheelchair. For boat launches, it is suitable but not for boats larger than 21 ft. Lighting at night is sub-standard.

Entry to boat ramp has huge potholes! The restroom/changing rooms are closed with two port a potties outside the doors. The grass needs cutting. Trash needs to be picked up in beach area. But, I rated 4 stars because the water is so nice for kayaking with just a couple boats causing waves. We brought a picnic lunch and found a nice private spot to eat. I'll go again next week!
