I would never have known about this had it not been for the museum inside the Wind River Casino Hotel. It is run by the descendants of the 1838 Rendezvous. The story is incredible straight from the tribal members themselves.
This 1838 Rendezvous Site location is very unsuspecting as you drive towards it from the road, it becomes unpaved and eventually into a quasi grassy field . It initially made me wonder if we were "supposed to be" there but we were soon met by another out of state person looking for the same location. We had no problems with a mini van. (Summertime)
There are no facilities, no bathrooms or people here to greet you but it is a good quick stop to absorb the history. There are a lot of markers and some signs to read. We had 4 elementary aged kids who learned history here that you cannot get in school.
It might "seem" like you are trespassing on someones property but no one gave us trouble and of course we didn't disturb anything. I encourage you to stop by and see it and appreciate the historical value...
