Big Sandy Reservoir — Attraction in Wyoming

Nice spot to take a break from the road. Stopped here for 4 nights until the rain quit up in Boulder. First spot was nice overlooking the reservoir but some gusty winds picked up and broke a pole and that popped through the outer layer of my 4 season tent. Grrrr! So we moved down the other side which was nice but I didn't have service. We had our own private outhouse though. Had to set up our smaller tent but made it work. Would definitely...

It's a place only a mother can love, but has its own desert charm. Fossils plentiful for those who enjoy looking for them. Water levels very low in 2022. Some vault facilities but in need of upgrading. Mud around waters edge makes launching a kayak impossible as you will sink up like quicksand. Highway noise can be heard at night from entire area. Free camping! This is first come first serve. Note : bring your own drinking water or filtration. Bring sun shelter as well WITH TIE DOWNS. It's exposed and windy at times. There are bathrooms, they were clean and had toilet paper when I was there. Beautiful...
