Went on the tour Feb 2025.

TLDR: Go on a Snowmobile instead of this. Dogs are slow, customer experience is lacking in important ways.

Pros:

The Views The Hot Springs Delicious Lunch Ride Back from the Hot Springs is fast (1 hour 20 mins ish) and relaxing

Cons:

Booking process is manual and I had about 7 separate phone calls just to get the booking correct, mostly due to them not writing my info down correctly and their booking software having problems

30-40 minute ride from Jackson to the start of the trail. Nobody’s fault, but becomes important later on

Our taxi driver was abrupt and outright rude/unprofessional at points (encouraging people to “rip some chili farts” on the way home)

Checkin at the dog sled HQ:

Initial checkin guy was sarcastic/rude about basic questions like “How long will it take to get to the hot springs”

Frank will give you boots to wear, but he felt the need to bring up his views on transgender folks while getting M/F shoe sizes (unnecessary and uncomfortable)

The ride to the hot springs is 10 miles, and you are moving sloooow - this is not a thrilling ride AT ALL. If there is fresh snow, you could be 3+ hours to the hot springs. We didn’t have fresh snow and took about 2 hours 15 mins

If you get paired up with a family with kids or other big group, there’s a high likelihood you won’t be next to your partner, or if you are, you’ll be right next to your guide who may talk your ear off for 2 hours.

You only get about 30 mins in the hot springs before they get you out for lunch

Lunch is delicious but I got a small amount of chili and there was none left when I asked for more

After the ride back you’ve got another 30-40 min taxi ride back with your same driver

Overall impression of this business: Dog sled enthusiast has a monopoly on dog sledding experience in Jackson. Charges a lot, thinks very highly of himself, and doesn’t have to worry about...

My family and I recently went on one of your tours. While the tour was fun, I do have a complaint. There were 7 of us in a group along with others who were there for a tour the same day. My group was split up. Meaning 2 went on 1 sled, 4 on one and then 1 of us was left to go alone with strangers. There was also another group of 7 and group of 2 that were there leaving at the same time----you took all kinds of initiative to make sure the other family stayed together and even said "we can't split up a couple" for the group of 2, but then had 1 person in our group go alone! While I realize that only 4 people could be with one group, that left 1 of us with complete strangers for the entire day. It ended up that I went with my children on 1 sled going to the hot springs and my husband rode back with them. We were never together as a family or with the other 2 people in our group. I think you could have added another sled for our family so that we could have enjoyed the experience together. This was the most disappointing excurison we went on while we were there and only because we were split up. I mentioned this at the time it was being done and feel like I was told---"Sorry---we can't accomodate everyone!" We should have been told this at the time of the booking. So if you are a family of more than 4 people--you may want to reconsider this tour. The guides were great--I have no complaint with that. Just that this once in a life time experience was not enjoyable becuase we didn't get to experence...

Extremely dishonest tour operator. Book at your own risk (and give out your credit card information over the phone at your own risk). I would never write a poor review of a small business if I was able to resolve something amicably, unfortunately that was not the case here. Emailed to try to reserve a spot for one of the two days I had available in Jackson. Got confirmation from Frank that one was available and called to give him my credit card information to reserve the spot. When I got the email confirmation it was for a day that I was already not going to be in Jackson. Admittedly I didn't realize that mix up for a full day. Sent several emails when I did realize this with no response. I then followed up with several emails that evening. Frank did eventually give me a call back but refused to give me a refund saying he doesn't allow for cancellations. I was not asking for a cancellation but rather a refund for his mistake (I have 2 emails outlining the dates). Honestly shocked he wouldn't just do the right thing and give me a refund for a mistake that was obviously his. Looks like a great experience and sad to have to write this review. Now looking into disputing with my credit...

What a fun experience! We did the half day tour which is about 5 miles. It included a lunch/snack at the turnaround which consisted of chili, cornbread, a hot beverage, water, and some pocket chocolate. Our guide Derek aka D Bo (Go Ravens!) was very nice and clearly loves their dogs. Being from MD I would recommend dressing warm and bringing goggles, if you're used to those conditions it might not be too uncomfortable. Frank the owner does provide boots and they are probably better than whatever you brought with you despite being well used. We (a couple) were paired with another couple and one guide, on two sleds with a team of 14 dogs. On the front sled one person sits while the other stands on the back with the guide. The rear sled is connected with another person sitting and one standing. There are some pretty simple directions to follow to help the guide and dogs. Be prepared for a little bit of pushing, walking, or even jogging, depending on the conditions. It isn't terribly difficult, but if you aren't used to the temperature or altitude it may catch up to you quick! It's all worth it to see the dogs and the views!

JH Iditarod truly went above and beyond for our elopement in Bridger-Teton National Forest. It was a bitterly cold day (-15 wind chill), but they still allowed us to stop at the waterfall to have our ceremony while our guides waited patiently. They accommodated our party so that we could all ride together, and even surprised us with chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne at the end of our trip. The scenery is indescribable, the pups are so happy to be running, and the guides (who happened to be a married couple!) are knowledgeable and kind. When we think about this day, we will always remember not how cold our fingers and toes were, but how warm our hearts were. Thank you, Frank & team!

Such a great and unique experience! My husband, son, and I did the half day tour. Frank ensured we had the maximum time out with the dogs. Our guide, Julie, was wonderful. She answered all our questions, made sure we were comfortable, and her love for the dogs way obvious. The lunch spot was beautiful and the lunch delicious. All of us had the opportunity to ride in the sled or stand on the runners. We learned so much about dog sledding, the operation, and the dogs on our shed specifically. The care and love for the animals from everyone is clear. The experience usually was fun, and the veiwes were spectacular.
