Lake De Smet — Attraction in Wyoming

Beautiful lake and awesome nearby mountains. There are hookups for RVs. There are boat ramps. There are just tent campsites. Easy to get to right from the interstate and far enough away from the interstate that you don't hear it at all. Everybody I met was polite and friendly and engaging and at night the place was quiet it was if everyone knew this was a beautiful lake with beautiful mountains and A Sky Full of Stars and it deserves the respect of Silence. Frogs and crickets that's all you heard. Please pull off of the interstate when you see the lake and spend the night you will meet a lot of great people and have a great time. If you have a Giant RV it makes no difference they have parking for all RVs of any size and if you have a boat bring it there...

Perhaps our visit being a few days out from the 4th of July contributed to the difficulty in finding an open site near the water. However, we lucked into getting the last spot and stayed for two nights. There have been many upgrades to the park since our last visit and construction continues. Great Lake for fishing, enjoy the breathing room not afforded by other lakes in the area. But expect cold, mountain stream water temperatures paired with beautiful, clear blue water. Enjoy the scenery of the mountains, located next to Buffalo and take a nice scenic drive through Story and the back way...
