I'M a parent of a freshman. Let start off this school has NO good communication. I thought once you get email aleast response in 24-48hr. NEVER do they return emails! I Understand your busy. But anyway I have call and email them since 7/18/2022 for cash management, Financial Aid. I put in aleast 6 ticket for someone to contact me. We'll it is Aug.13th 2022. Nope no contact. So on August 8th I email her counselor, dorm manager and dean of student to let them know she was hospital. She will not be on campus that week. Again no answer! Finally Dean of student state get better and they can delay me coming to campus and classes. Reach back outto see whatbis the best option. No respond and school start on Monday Aug. 15th I had to laught because after all the email and calling I did. I received an email saying they didn't see her on campus and will check the room today and Sunday for her. ANY WAY THERE POLICY STATE TO CALL IN IF there emergency for hospital, death and Illness. So I reach back out to see if there any online classes until she was able to come to campus. NOPE no answer. But she has clearance by school. Then the bookstore stated one book want be in trying contact them phone and email no answers!. Once u call there one stop shop.    Read moreI was a freshman in 2018-2019. And it's terrible. They had ants bugs and many dorms falling apart. Green and Anderson have black mold. Willies has no A.C. HUNTER has no elevator. The staff doesn't care unless you get your parents on them. They keep building new dorms bit need to fix the existing ones. Many of the students are on academic probation and always will because of the lack of education. The main major is business, and that's all they care about. I'm an education major and have no sources to do student teaching. There is no resources to do mandatory observation hours, practicum, and other requirements from the State. There is no help to go anywhere outside campus. The nearest town is 20 minutes through the country. Car is a necessity! There is not public shuttle for campus. The next town over has had several issues with RACISTS attacking the students because they are a part of the KKK. Please remember, this is OHIO! RED STATE= NOT SAFE FOR BLACK/ NON-WHITE PEOPLE. No one is passing here. There is no way to unless you have the necessary discipline, and many of these students don't because they were not prepared for college. CSU accepts anyone. So anyone is here. Dorms have visitation like jail, because they do not trust the students. Again, these kids were never given the freedom until now. With that being said, many of the dorms are nasty, run down, and loud as HELL. No one respects each other out here. Many of the students have no clue how to handle their newfound freedom. And CSU doesn't help them. They just let them rot, drop out, and take their money. This school does not care about the education and well-being of their students. Fafsa is a joke processing. Random charges added to your bill. Please reconsider if your child or yourself is thinking about enrolling here. trust to go to another university. Literally...
Read moreI honestly wish I could leave 0 stars because 1 is giving this school too much credit. I worked with a student who attended this school (past tense because they left due to several valid reasons). The way the school handled COVID was insufficient. We struggled to get ahold of financial aid via phone and email to inquire in regards to the students financial aid. You call one department and they tell you to call another person who then tells you the previous information you received was incorrect. Itâs frustrating all around when all you want to do is talk to a competent person regarding something that should be relatively straightforward at a university. Also, financial aid is not handled properly at all. The student went all semester supposed to get a refund and all of a sudden at the end of the semester they owed a balance. The residence hall I went in multiple times throughout the semester smelled strongly of weed which is not conducive of a productive learning environment. Ultimately, the student left because they did not feel supported or heard by CSU despite numerous attempts to reach out regarding academic and financial aid concerns. This school is supposed to be a supportive environment for black students. However, my student was let down and left to figure things out on their own as a first generation college freshman. Now Iâm not one to go around and leave bad reviews, but my experience with CSU was truly disappointing ESPECIALLY considering the fact that itâs an HBCU. At this time I would not recommend this school to any student or parent. Save yourself all the frustration and look into other HBCUâs because frankly CSU ainât it. Step...
