Unfortunately I never made it to the trail because the roads to get to the trailhead were THAT bad. I’ve never been so terrified while driving in my life. Thankfully I was able to turn around without rolling off the mountain and briefly considered parking down the road from the trailhead and simply walking up to it but there were at least 5 dogs all barking at me alongside the road I would have to walk on, and having not had the best experiences with Puerto Rican dogs so far, I wasn’t willing to risk getting bitten by a dog thinking it needs to protect its territory from me.
Seriously - heed caution if you decide to attempt getting there. The last 3k of the drive starts to get a little sketchy as the road dramatically narrows, but the last 1k is, in my opinion, impassable. I’m sure it was a beautiful hike but not worth risking...
Read moreHike is intense - worth it but not for everyone. Would not recommend for small children or elderly or people with any mobility issues. Trail has many slippery sections with difficult inclines, but at the most difficult sections near the top there are steel cables to help. A really beautiful spot! Google maps gives you 2 routes but only recommend the one going from Yauco if you're in any other place and use gmaps it will most likely give you the other route which is horrible and not recommended for all vehicles.
