I booked a llama trek at Topstall for my childhood best friend and I for Christmas because she loves llamas and I thought it would be a fun unique experience for us to do together. Our visit did not disappoint! Marla greeted us out front, told us where to park, and gave us a rundown of the area. So we knew where things were located. She offered us snacks, hot tea (which was so nice on a cool/ rainy morning), or cold beverages which was complimentary to our visit. Once everyone arrived she gave us a rundown of the outline of our visit along with some basic rules on how to conduct ourselves around the animals. She shared a lot of facts about llamas and alpaca during the duration of our visit. We got to feed the animals, pet them (only in certain circumstances as to be respectful of their comfort and space), along with walk them. As you can imagine we were so exited about being in the presence of these incredible animals that we were trying to be in the moment with them as much as possible which made it difficult for us to take pictures. Marla was such a great hostess as she made sure to capture the memories for us. She took photos and videos with her own phone and even took the time to email them to us after our visit! The farm also features a small shop with alpaca fiber items along with mugs, llama/ alpaca pictures, and stickers. She shared a lot of knowledge with us and this experience was so unique and fun. I would highly recommend giving top stalk a visit! It was so fun getting up close and personal with the animals. I am so glad we took the time to check out this farm because we got to support a small local business in the area and I genuinely believe Marla really cares for all of the animals. I could not believe how clean the barn and pastures were. You can see that she has put a lot of time and energy into her animals, the farm, and her business. She had the safety of the animals and us in mind during the entirety of our visit. Thank you again Marla we had a blast at the farm and memories that'll last us a lifetime! I even got to get a kiss on the cheek from Degaulle which is the llama I got to walk with on...
Read moreMy husband and I went for a tour in early February. It was such a fun experience, and educational too. The day started with a warm welcome from Marla, and then a history on llamas and alpacas. We learned how the two animals differ physically, emotionally, socially, and historically. Then we got to learn about Marla's llamas and alpacas and their individual personalities. Marla's interest and love for the animals is so clear and genuine. After learning about the animals, we were able to feed the alapacas (and one rogue llama). After that we learned more about how to handle our llamas for the walking tour, and then got to pick which ones to walk. Marla and her partner kept the group safe crossing the highway and along the walking path. My llama (Khyber) ended up being a bit more rambunctious than expected, but both Marla and her partner were close by and able to help course correct (he just wanted to be near his buddy). Half way through the tour you take your llamas to a clearing where they get to snack, and then you walk back. After the tour and last bit of conversation, you get a chance to look at the small gift shop and grab some complimentary tea/coffee for the road. Marla also shared the photos she took from the day which was a such a nice thing to have.
If you're interested in this tour, I'd recommend giving it a shot. We had fun even though it was cold, but I'd probably recommend going when its a bit drier and less cold than February. Wear sturdy shoes and get ready to meet some really cute,...
Read moreIf you love llamas and alpacas and need a mental reset, you have to visit Topstall Farm. Before we even turned on to beautiful tree-lined street the farm is on, a conversation about moving here was taking place due to the beauty. We pulled into the drive and was met by the lovely owner. I love her TikTok’s, so it was so exciting to meet her. My first impression was that the farm was immaculate. I could see llamas and alpacas, but I could not smell them. The whole farm was perfectly groomed. I wandered around a small gift shop planning out my purchases before we even began. There was also a lovely snack area with complimentary snacks and drinks. Our tour was on a weekday, so we had a small group of 5 which was lovely! We were filled with interesting information about camelids and became certified llama handlers at the end. I broke down in tears multiple times in awe of hugging and walking the peaceful llamas. I learned they only spit when competing for feed with each other. I had the honor of walking multiple llamas through a flat, tree-lined path in the forest opposite the farm. The path was shaded and the sun shone through the branches scattering line here and there. It was truly magical and hands down my favorite activity I have ever done. Thank you Topstall farm. I...
