I traversed about 2/3 of this trail in February. There is not a lot of greenery in February, but the temperature was nice for a hike. Took 6 children under the age of 7. Pros: Interesting geological features. Challenging trail grades. Waterside views. A lot of natural untouched landscape. The trail is marked with arrows (see photos). There are dozens of informational signs identifying rocks and plants. Cons: Much of it is along the highway. The trail can be steep, narrow, and slippery. The 2 year old tripped more than 12 times and once his nose bled so bad I thought he broke it, but he demanded to go on.

This is the starting location for the Wilson Canyon Hiking Trail. Plenty of parking and a covered picnic area. The trail has many signs describing the plants and geologic area. Some places are steep, but I would rate this an easy to moderate trail. There is very little shade on the trail. So it best to do in April to early June or early in the morning. We went in late May and there were so many wildflowers blooming. Very beautiful!

It's a rather challenging hike, and at times the trail is not very defined, however the views are great and I really enjoy the fact markers along the trail. Definitely bring plenty of water and a buddy. There are parts of the trail that are very rocky and other parts with very fine dirt on steep inclines. Depending on the day you might find little lizards.

This place is seriously awesome. I was driving through the area and happened to pull off to take a few pics of the beautiful river running through the canyon and stumbled upon this nature area by accident. The hiking trial is a 3.5 loop which takes you on an amazing journey you won't expect. You will learn a bit of the areas history while exploring all the different types of geography it has to offer so be prepared with proper hiking gear and have plenty of water as you will need it. I would consider this slightly physically demanding however if you stay on the designated trail and travel at your own pace I can't see why anyone would have trouble finishing. I will warn, as does the posted signs this is rugged wild territory and there is a possibility of encountering dangerous rattlesnakes and other creatures so make sure you pay close attention to were you step and place hands as well as listening for warning threats. Lastly I want to give props to whomever manages this trail as they did a amazing job of detailing the direction of travel, labeling of vegetation, and pointing out any other interesting facts alone the trail which is a unique feature you rarely see on other trails. This is a hidden treasure in more ways than one(hint hint) and you may come across a very cool rare souvenir(which aren't noted)that nature has to offer if you look closely enough. Hopefully if you do manage to figure out what I'm referring to you will be respectful and limit yourself to just a small souvenir but if not nature has its own ways of protecting against the greedy as you will notice as the trail...
