My wife and I have been visiting both Napa and Sonoma for the past 30 years. We live in the midwest and rarely find smaller production wines. During our numerous trips we learned to ask different wineries to suggest other wineries we should visit. While in Sonoma at one of the best zinfadel producers, I asked the tasting room host to recommend his favorite Cabernet Sauvignon producer. He stated James Cole Winery won that designation hands down! We arranged a tasting for the following day. Wow, we were blown away by the phenomenal wines and the friendly tasting room staff. We purchased wines to take with us and regretted we did not join the wine club at that time. The following summer I celebrated my birthday by bringing my entire nuclear family to Napa/Sonoma for a wine experience. My sons were both very knowledgeable about wines while the majority of the group were novices, we had a total of 17 people. We planned a visit to James Cole on Wednesday. Again we were blown away by a tasting of some of the best Cabs we had ever tasted, blends were great also. With the large group again I hesitated joining the wine club however when we returned on Friday with only a few dedicated wine consumers, I signed up. I have been a member of many clubs over the years, they come and go. The wines change as does the quality. For the past 7 years I have been a member of the Coalition Wine Club at James Cole. Not once have I ever been disappointed in any bottle of their wine I have opened. I have my favorites, my wife has hers and when our children visit, they always open a James Cole from the cellar. Keep up the dedication to great wines. You are truly my favorite...
Read moreI cannot express the tremendous gratitude and appreciation I have for Dustin and Miguel during our stop here. My brother and I were told about James Cole the day of and they were kind enough to work us into their schedules.
First off, the ambiance and the environment is fantastic. James Cole doesn't try and be too serious or too uppiddy. They have a beautiful patio area or high tops where you feel like you're just at a bar. The wine is incredible as well.
Now, Dustin and Miguel. These two gentlemen absolutely took our wine tasting to another level. I am a beginner wine drinker and both of them took the time to talk my brother and I through each wine, the aromas and flavors to look for, the history of James Cole, etc. They shared stories about their lives and experiences and give us a glimpse into life in Napa! I feel like I came out of the experience with a renewed fascination of wine and can't wait to learn more. These guys did such a good job that even my brother, who does not drink wine often, said to me later that day that "I think I want to get into wine!"
Dustin, Miguel, if you guys are reading this. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We really appreciated your guys willingness to just stand and drink wine and chat with us. For what it's worth, you guys have single handedly convinced me to start looking at WSET. Keep up the...
Read moreThere are not enough superlatives to describe this incredible boutique winery, but I will try my best to share why I LOVE James Cole Wines and their winery estate.
THE WINES! If you could only just taste them, my review would be done. Delectable, delicious and downright beautiful. I enjoy pouring a glass for friends and watching their reactions as, unexpectedly, the wine takes them over in sheer blissful enjoyment.
During a social gathering, most everyone is expecting something pleasant and unassuming. What they don’t expect is a James Cole wine. They taste again, they ask about it, want to see and touch the bottle, and then are thankful for being introduced to a beautifully disruptive moment. I simply cannot get enough of watching their reactions, as well as enjoying a glass myself.
Visiting the winery is a pleasant and private moment in an otherwise chaotic life. Knowledgeable and attentive, the staff keep you at ease as you enjoy the flavors, aromas and views of this beautiful estate. You simply do not want to leave, but if you must, then definitely take future memories with you (for me, il Mostro and Tyson bring out the love. My bride has fallen for the Rosé).
And don’t forget their incredible semi-annual events. Wine, music,...
