So here's the 411. Google maps will take you to an area that reads no trespassing without a permit. This is the back gate to fowl hunting ponds. The hunters station with is a metal building/garage is also behind locked gates at the end of Schlag Road. If you're like me and just want a walking trail with the family the Sutter National Wildlife Refuge website linked brochure reads that "spring trail" is off O'banion down Levee Rd. ...Levee Road just means the Road on top of the Levee...Levee Road on Google will take you to the Feather River by Shanghai Bend...don't go there. You can take the gravel road on the Levee from Oswald to Obanion and vice versa, you will see the hiking trails with markers coming from O'banion on the left. When we were there early March the visitor center was closed and the pontoon foot bridge across the river had two of it's cables broken and was turned sideways in the river. Apparently people have made many attempts to fix it judging by the number of broken ropes attached to it. We just parked off of the levee road and walked around using the highway bridge. None of the trailheads had closed signs, although there was also nobody else there. It's helpful to look at their website for the PDF map...
