More of a 3.5 star park. I enjoy hiking here. It's more of a locals hike and bike State Park. If your not already in the are I wouldn't go out of my way to visit especially with places like San Jacinto SP and Big Bear rec area near by. The park is situated on a hill side right outside of town. Pretty much All the hiking and biking is either going up or coming down. About 25% dirt road, 25% double track, 50% single track. All dirt pack and nothing very technical. Great Mountain Biking if your a good climber and want to log some training miles. You wouldn't know your just a stones throw from Yucaipa and several developments with as quiet as it is.

The parking lot is huge and wide open, setup very nicely for the equestrian folks with trailers.

Very little in the way of facilities here, or even trail markings for that matter. Make sure to have a map with you or download either All trails or Hiking Project - both of which are free and will keep you from getting lost.

There's ok cell coverage with AT&T. A few dead zones but otherwise 2 bars.

Bring lots of water. It's a pretty exposed and windy hillside. You'll dehydrate quickly. Most times I go there are only one or two other cars in the lot and Ive never come across a fellow hiker, biker, or equestrian outside of the .10 mile...

Yo I came here today (4/18/2025) and it was my first time hiking this joint. My legs are tired so not sure if that’s good or bad to yall reading this review. Anyways, very nature low noise good trails. Some incline or you can opt out for the easier trails. People being their pets like dogs and horses. They walk the dogs and the horses carry their owners. I didn’t see anyone walking their turtle so idk if you wanna bring it here for a walk.

Anyways nature wise, I saw a bunch of birds and of many kinds (just check out the pictures I added and you know what add me on the gram @jluzphoto). There’s also deer and like other animals. We did come across a rabbit of sorts with no head, don’t know what did it but I’d take it as a warning to stay out?!

There’s a cool abandoned house, lowkey creepy if you ask me cuz there was a game cam pointing right at it and it makes me wonder if it’s haunted or some. I did add a photo of the house (add me on the gram @jluzphoto).

Anyways, I’d totally go back if I’m ever in the area specifically for hiking. I rate this place 14 out of 14. Always check me out on the gram if you haven’t done so after reading this wonderful...

Just took a walk around the loop in the park. I discovered it with Google probably enough looking for hikes in my area. Strip cities such as Southern California the banning Beaumont strip hide it so many great things just a few miles left or right off the freeway. 1 small can it it is April a promise just get much hotter is it always does in the banning area high desert however its always about 10 to 15 degrees cooler here than it is down in Palm Springs or San Bernardino Valley.

Horses running here down the trails, or I should say walking and it is a good up till grade from the parking lot to the peak of maybe a mile, it looks like there was even more trails to be ascended. I'll get here earlier for the next walk, There's a more urban swings and picnic area parking just about a mile down the road maybe .8. When you enter the State Park you will pass a row houses before you reach it on a country road, do not be sweet and park in the big dirt lot have...

Amazing place with mule deer, foxes, bobcats, coyote, and historical buildings. Please don't vandalize when you go. October is mating season for mule dder so they are more bold and will charge. Noise doesnt always work. Walk slowly. Never turn your back and the buck will follow his mate. I have had two close encounters. Noise freaked them out. Slow moments. If charging you, put a tree or something between you and hooves or antlers. I carry a backpack and hiking pole for safety. Water and sunblock. The snakes are most active when it warms up in Spring and sumner. Give space and they usually just leave. Trantulas have crossed my path and we both jumped. Many hikes in park. Horses and mountain bikes too.
