I bought their groupon back on 9/12/12 and finally got around to using it last weekend of 3/9/13. It was a great experience.
I used to be really heavy into paintball when I was younger and my early years of high school. Since then I've moved onto other hobbies which means I've had roughly a 12 year break since I last played. I kept my equipment though knowing one day I would get back in the woods and speedball arenas to chuck some paint at unsuspecting enemies. The importance of me mentioning this though is because Will (I think his name was - he told me to call him Dumb Dumb) spent nearly half the day trying to get my 12 year old marker back to working condition (spyder shutter java edition) FOR FREE. He dismantled it numerous times to try and find an elusive o-ring that kept giving us problems of leaking air. He ended up getting it fixed in the 2nd half of the day, and lubed it for me. So a big thanks to him! Not only did he help me fix my marker, but he and pretty much everyone on the staff helped get my knowledge of the sport back up to speed. During down time I would go back to the check in area and just sit around talk to them about the sport. They gave me a lot of advice and much needed information on getting back into the sport after a 12 year hiatus.
During the 2nd half of the day it ended up getting really busy and the walk-ons were almost to much for the staff to handle as one group. So "Dumb Dumb" took the initiative to split the walk-ons into 4 groups making the games much faster and a ton more enjoyable. This place has just earned a customer for life for as long as I play and keep my equipment. I can't say enough about the staff and facilities here.
They have a diverse selection of fields; 6 to be exact with 1 speedball arena and they have a few more fields coming this year with their business expansion from what 'Dumb Dumb' tells me. They only allow field paint, which is alright. It is a little pricey, but it's good quality paint that shoots accurate. Something like 55 bucks for 2,000 balls. They have a port-a-potty, chrono station, and a shaded staging area. Their rental equipment is very good and clean. The mask I got though smelled of bad sweat (the foam); I would be careful about that. They are very serious about safety, and will kick you off the field if you don't obey the rules. I saw two infractions in the 6 or so hours I was there.
If you've never played paintball be sure to get off the couch and go have some fun at this place. For 45 bucks you get all rental equipment, plus 500 balls, 4 hours of play time on their fields and unlimited...
Read moreI'm gonna say 5 stars with room for improvement. I have paintballed on more fields then I can count on one hand. Their fields were well set up and the variety was nice. I did favor certain fields because after all, it's Florida... fight in the shade whenever possible.
They have a very generous military discount in a few occasions each month, but prices are very reasonable even if you don't qualify for those.
They split entrance fees into 2 sessions, 9-1 or 2-6. Personally, I'd like an all day option woth a significant discount rather then buying 2 sessions. But in this heat, 1 session is probably enough.
Rentals are ok. Hoppers are good. Barrels are short.
Ammo cost is incredible. I remember paying $80 in Colorado a decade ago. So anything cheaper then that is really good. I also only had 3 or 4 balls break in the barrel.
The games we played were all single elimination. This definitely promotes more cautious play..but there is so much room for improvement here. I've played reincarnation, president, gun game, alamo... you name it. And... reincarnation forces more firing which means more profit and less down time for shooters. Win win..
For paintballers, I recommend and hope they add some creativity. For non paintballers, it's fun and safe but I recommend you come out on a day that isn't 80 degrees. It's hot. Trees block breeze. Shade is sporadic. And you want gloves, pants, boots, neck guard, and long sleeve shirt. It's hot.
If you are worried about it hurting... it can hurt for sure. Most painful areas are neck and hands so gloves are a must. Neck gets hit infrequently so maybe a scarf or something. If you do a short sleeve shirt and then a long sleeve on top, that takes most of the bite away from being shot. You...
Read moreI strongly recommend coming here. This is the best place to go paintballing in North Florida. For starters, the rental equipment is top notch for a really good price. They use very nice guns and masks, and unlike other places that cheap out on the hoppers, this place use electric dye hoppers. Most places use gravity based hoppers. In addition, their paint is premium and very cheap. This means that the paint will break easier and won’t hurt as much. I’ve been to other places around Jacksonville, and the paint they use is much harder. Also, they have way more fields and nicer fields. They have a wide variety of fields that go from fields in the forest to hyperball. The staff here are friendly. They’re good on safety. On top of it the owners ( rob and angel ) of this place are really good people. I have had the chance to visit countless other paintball fields including Whils and paintball adventures, and none of them compare to this place. Even though there are countless closer places to play, I drive an hour to play here because the experience playing here is so much better. I have played here almost every weekend for about 3-4 years now and playing here is worth every...
