I have two words that best help to describe what I felt when I arrived at this place: complete serenity.
Not only was the location gorgeous, but it was a very clean and welcoming little camp site. When I arrived with my significant other we were greeted by a very friendly older woman. She was quick to start a conversation with us and we soon learned that she and her husband actually take care of the site, and they also stay/live there as well ! She was extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, and we were treated to tales of her time at the location and of her travels around the United States.
Although you do generally have to pay money to park there for the day, she was very kind to me and my boyfriend and allowed us to take a few photos and go down to the water for about half and hour for free.
I cannot wait to go back and enjoy a few days out there on that beautiful water ! Definitely a spot that if you can go......

There are a few fun off road trails and dirt roads you can head north and access the river to enjoy the coves. The donkeys are entertaining to watch and make a lot of noise at times. Read moreStayed at Squaw Lake which we have done several years now. We really like the Lake and river for fishing. The camping is adequate for what you pay. It's dry camping. What needs work is the camp hosts. They are very grumpy and not very welcoming to the newbie. In my day camp hosts were happy to be welcoming new people to their private heaven.
