Upper Macatawa Natural Area — Attraction in Zeeland Charter Township

I only biked on the paved paths, and this was a fun trail! I went left off the trailhead, and that was more challenging (steeper hills) than if you go to the right (I took that route after turning around). There were maps every so often, which was helpful. There’s a bike repair station which thankfully I didn’t need, but it’s nice to know it’s there if I did! It’s a very multi use property, as you can hike through the woods or walk on paved paths, can ride mountain bikes on unpaved paths. It was pleasant scenery, not too busy, and fun to ride. The only thing that got me was that I wasn’t sure if the trail I was on had a mode to circle back (this was 100% my lack of knowledge and unwillingness to stop & take the time to figure it out 😂), so I turned around and just rode that path twice. I love coming here for a great walk, hike or run. Bring the kids along, lots of things to discover and enjoy. Mountain biking is available here but check the Facebook page first under Upper Macatawa Park before leaving home to make sure that they're open. Clay based so if there is much water it just might be closed. But trail difficulties barrier l vary here so be aware of where you are and ride within your abilities. Trail direction is posted along with rules at the park. Parents please monitor which trail your kids are riding on, so areas are very technical and are not meant for beginners. Upper Macatawa Natural Area is a great spot to skin your knees or in my sons case, your face. Needless to say, my son found a hill with his scooter, went full speed down as fast as he could go then his big bro stopped, he did a complete flip over his big bro and landed on his face.
