We stopped by for a late lunch around 3 o’clock on a Friday, and it was absolutely amazing. We were greeted by the owner, Diego, who was so warm and welcoming—he truly made the experience special. We were the only ones in the restaurant, and it felt like such a peaceful, personal moment.
The vineyard has been in Diego’s family for five generations, and you can really feel the pride and care in everything—from the setting to the service to the wine.
We started with a beautifully presented cheese board, paired with outstanding olive oil and fresh bread. The house Chardonnay and Rosé were both delicious and complemented the cheeses perfectly.
For our main, we had the steak, which was perfectly cooked and served with just the right amount of potatoes—simple, elegant, and full of flavor. We paired it with a glass of their Tannat, which was excellent.
What made it even more special was how relaxed and at home we felt—like we were part of the family. We were seated right at a table with the bottles of wine, and Diego simply said, “Help yourselves, fill up yourselves.” It was so genuine and generous.
To finish, we shared a Doce de Leche crepe, along with a glass of Champagne and some Grappa. Everything was flawless—the food, the wine, the atmosphere, and the hospitality. We would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone...
Read moreThe beauty of visiting the Almacén on a warm, sunny October afternoon and sitting beneath the grapevine arbor is exceeded only by the generous pours of phenomenal wines, delicious food, and warm hospitality from Diego and Ana. All of the wines are truly outstanding -- our personal favorites were the rosé of moscatel, the tannat and merlot blend (Quinta Generación), and the licor de tannat. The connection between the locale and the wines is highlighted by the sustainability program they participate in. We walked the vineyard, toured the production house, and even saw the historic cellar nearing 150 years old. We had the experience of...
Read moreThis vineyard, the wine, and the family that runs it are all amazing. We went to quite a few wineries in Carmelo and this was definitely my favorite. We showed up one afternoon and bumped into a woman who said she spoke English and could give us a tour. It turned out that this was HER family's winery. She walked us around and then seated us in this beautiful little vine covered area where she gave us a taste of many of the wines, as well as a beautiful spread of meat and cheese and even a regional- specific tomato. I can not speak highly enough of this winery and would recommend it above all the other wineries in...
