A Heavenly Hike Through Canaima National Park

If you're looking for a destination that combines breathtaking natural beauty with a healthy dose of adventure, Canaima National Park in Venezuela is the place to be. With its surreal landscapes, including the world's tallest waterfall and the mysterious tepuis (table-top mountains), this park is a must-visit for anyone with a sense of wanderlust and a love for the great outdoors. The star attraction is undoubtedly Angel Falls, which plunges a staggering 979 meters from the top of Auyantepuy, one of the many tepuis that dot the park. A trek to the base of the falls is a highlight of any visit, and while it's not an easy journey (with a 30-minute hike over large tree roots), the reward is well worth the effort. The sight of the falls, especially during the wet season when the rivers are full, is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Aside from the falls, the park offers a variety of other sights and activities. The landscape is a fascinating mix of grasslands, dense jungle, and the unique tepuis, which harbor some of the most unusual life on earth. A visit to Canaima National Park is like stepping back in time, into a prehistoric world that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World." One of the best ways to experience the park is on a three-day, two-night trip from Canaima camp. The tour includes the flight to Canaima, meals, and accommodation at various campsites along the river towards the falls. This gives you a chance to fully immerse yourself in the park's natural beauty and to learn about the indigenous Pemon people, who have been the stewards of this land for centuries. However, a visit to Canaima National Park isn't without its challenges. The park is remote and access is mostly by boat or plane. The dry season can make the journey to Angel Falls more difficult, and at the end of this season, the river levels can be too low for boats to make the trip. Accommodation options in the park are limited and can be expensive, so be prepared to rough it a bit. Despite these challenges, a trip to Canaima National Park is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The combination of stunning natural beauty, unique geological formations, and the opportunity to learn about the Pemon culture make it a truly unforgettable destination. So pack your hiking boots, a sense of adventure, and get ready for a journey into a world...

Venezuela, officially known as the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a country located on the northern coast of South America. It is bordered by Colombia to the west, Brazil to the south, and Guyana to the east, with the Caribbean Sea to the north. Known for its rich natural resources, especially its vast oil reserves, Venezuela has one of the largest proven oil deposits in the world. The country has a diverse geography, including the Andean mountain range, tropical rainforests, vast plains known as the Llanos, and the iconic Angel Falls, the world's tallest waterfall.

Venezuela has a complex political history marked by periods of dictatorship, democracy, and socialist leadership. In recent years, the country has experienced significant economic challenges, political instability, and social unrest due to hyperinflation, food shortages, and an ongoing humanitarian crisis, leading to mass emigration. Despite these struggles, Venezuela retains a rich cultural heritage, blending indigenous, African, and Spanish influences, which is evident in its music, dance,...

12ª - Respeite a Montanha.

Canaima National Park is spread over 3 million ha in south-eastern Venezuela along the border between Guyana and Brazil. Roughly 65% of the park is covered by table mountain (tepui) formations. The tepuis constitute a unique biogeological entity and are of great geological interest. The sheer cliffs and waterfalls, including the world's highest (1,000 m), form a spectacular landscape. With geology very similar to that found in Africa, Canaima is covered with flat-topped mountains known as tepui, as well as forests and a lagoon. The lagoon is a popular tourist attraction—tourists can navigate the crystal waters in a canoe. The tallest waterfall in the world, Angel Falls, falls from the summit of one of the tepui mountains called Auyantepui. The waterfall is 979 metres (3,212 feet) high and can be seen from walking routes through the tropical forest.
