After my coffee stop, I made my way to Linh Ứng Pagoda at Son Tra Peninsula, and wah, I must say — this place really wow-ed me.

The main highlight here is none other than the huge Guan Yin (Lady Buddha) statue that stands tall and mighty at 67 meters, facing the sea as if she's watching over Da Nang and blessing the people and fishermen.

From afar and from my hotel, you can already spot her — that’s how massive she is. Up close, the scale is just… jaw-dropping.

A bit of background (yes I kaypoh, so I Googled after visiting 😄):

The pagoda was completed in 2010, but construction started way back in 2004.

The government and Buddhist community wanted to build a spiritual landmark in this area to bless the city, especially since it’s near the sea and storms used to affect Da Nang badly.

The belief is that Guan Yin brings calm, compassion, and protection — and that she now keeps the city and fishermen safe from harm.

The entire pagoda complex is actually very peaceful and well-maintained. You’ll see beautiful bonsai trees, dragon statues, and a temple hall where people go to pray.

I saw both tourists and locals lighting incense and offering prayers.

One thing I appreciated: There were photographers walking around offering to take nice photos of you.

They’re not pushy at all, and if you like the photo, they print it out for you right away — very affordable, and honestly, quite nicely done. I think it’s a good way to support the local community too.

Best way is to take Grab or InDrive. The road up is winding but smooth — it’s about 25–30 minutes from Da Nang city centre.

If you’re confident riding a bike, you can rent one, but do be careful on the curves.

Try to visit early morning or around 4–5pm. The weather is cooler, lighting is better for photos, and the view of the sea with the breeze — wah, shiok! Avoid noon unless you like sunburns. 😂
