Thac Bau Can (aka Thac Doi 3) in Chu Prong is a great example of a rural waterfall (free to visit) that can be found within the countryside of the Gia Lai Province. Located about 30km from Pleiku and is accessible most easily by motorbike, as a few of the "roads" leading into it are more or less muddy, village tracks (especially if visiting during the rainy season, or after a few rainy days). It is also possible to visit by vehicle, but you will have to take a longer route. The tracks are relatively easy if you are a confident riders, but can be a bit tricky - dependent on recent weather conditions. If you are a novice rider, and not used to muddy tracks and small creek crossings it may be slightly daunting but the worst that can happen is you may slide out and fall off. If you're riding slow then both you and your bike will be OK, even if a mishap occurs. (NB: If you come direct from Pleiku, I think the track is far easier than the route I took - as I rode from another waterfall???) I have included photographs of the main track leading to the waterfall (the first three images) and the fourth image is the track you walk down to reach the waterfall. The other images of the muddy tracks and creek crossings are the more adventurous way that I took coming from another waterfall. At the point where Google Maps says you have arrived you will need to walk further. At the Google Maps suggested destination you should be at a point where the track has opened up to a clearing where there should be a few buildings. Ahead to the right is a small track which you need to follow. The track will head downhill and soon you will see a large holiday home to the left. Keep following the track down a set of steps, passing the holiday house, then it will head right.....at this stage you should be able to see the falls to your right. The track leads down to the shore, and if the river isn't flowing too fast you should be able to swim at the base...
Read moreThe waterfall was completely dry when we visited in may, however that's not the waterfall's fault. I'm giving it 3 starts simply because of the amount of litter everywhere was atrocious. Very sad I'm such a beautiful place.
This waterfall can also be a pain to get to. We came from another waterfall and Google took us down the craziest dirt tracks. Feel sorry for our hire bike 🤣 You have to go past some houses and there's a little path on the right down to a white house with a path to...
Read moreThe road lead to here wasn't too bad, a bit bumpy for the last 2 km. They built a new house here so just following the trail from the house, don't need to walk to coffee farm anymore. The waterfall is amazing! Fresh and cool water. We went here in dry season so we can even climb to the cave! Nice spot for camping or have a rest! Still have a lot of rubbish around. Please don't leave any rubbish if...
