Adventure and Unforgettable Scenery. Definitely book the early cruise to the bay. The 360 degree views from the boat are unforgettable. You will pass by at least 2 famous formations, including the chicken and rooster, and the formation found on the 200,000 dong note. Be aware that when it comes time to tour the cave, those who suffer from clostrophobia may wish to prepare themselves mentally, or opt out. First the cruise boat docks by pushing its way between other boats, kind of like bumper boats.😃. Heading in, boatloads of people are funneled into 2 lines. My wife amd I decided to embrace our inner Vietnamese and merge ahead, making close contact with our honorary brothers amd sisters. We continued in this fashion through the entire cave, taking few photo breaks, but always with the aim to make it back to the boat within the 30 min alloted time. We were able to use the restroom, purchase a souvenir, and enjoy some fresh passion juice, and lime juice before rejoining our team. Read moreĐá Gô Cave in Vietnam is a fascinating natural wonder that combines impressive geology with a sense of quiet mystery. Located in the heart of Ha Long Bay, it is one of the lesser-known caves compared to its famous neighbors, making it a rewarding stop for those seeking something more tranquil.
Inside, visitors are greeted by large chambers with dramatic stalactites and stalagmites shaped over millions of years. The rock formations resemble animals, mythical creatures, and abstract sculptures, sparking the imagination of anyone walking through. The story of its discovery and the folklore surrounding the rock formations are interesting to a certain degree, especially if you're into mythical stuff.
However, the tour inside the cave gets a bit boring once you notice that the guide is always pointing at some rock formation saying that it's an animal, a person, "Romeo and Juliet", among other things. And they're so many that you kinda feel like the guide, or the whole touring institution for that matter, may just be fabricating stuff for the sake of adding more interest to the seemingly innocent rocks.
And by the way, the cave as you may notice if you observe carefully, is not 100% nature-made. Some man-made elements have already been introduced, which adds to the skepticism about some of the rock formations being natural. It even makes you think how much percent of the whole cave is unadulterated.
So go ahead and listen to the guide, but take their words with a grain of salt. If you get bored at listening, you can always take pictures but don't expect the place to be...
