Probably one of the best museums I’ve ever visited and it’s true these types of museums have an extra dose of attraction in a country as Vietnam
No secret you should get documented about long and controversial Vietnamese history prior to visit this museum.
Having said that and living history apart let me appreciate how beautiful this building look like, for me an architectural wonder at its own.
Back to history side you should leave several hours for this museum, it took me 7h to get hit everything, this museum is large from the inside to the outside and that reflects how complete it is.
Unfortunately (or not) this place was a bit overcrowded by kids, there were literally hundreds of them, of course kids don’t care about history and the environment was loud and hard to get focused on reading but a diferent windows opened for us and was the opportunity to get lost between locals, let me explain that
Hanoi is not the most popular city for tourist, probably due to its poor weather, lack of attractions and its conservative politics, that lead us to be the only tourists in the museum and the locals were so welcoming that made us have a better time, we were cheated and asked many questions that I was able to open myself and at the same time learn a different side and not told but for locals
I have no choice but to recommend this place, again; make sure you give yourself slightly more of half day.
You can easily reach this museum by grab or any ride share app. It shouldn’t take you...

The Vietnam Military History Museum (Bảo tàng Lịch sử Quân sự Việt Nam) in Hanoi is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. With an impressive collection of artifacts, weapons, and historical displays, it provides a deep insight into Vietnam’s long and resilient military history. I would rate this museum 5 out of 5 stars for its rich content, well-organized exhibits, and educational value.
One of the highlights is the wreckage of American warplanes, including parts of a B-52 bomber, which showcases Vietnam’s victory during the Vietnam War. The museum also houses an extensive collection of military uniforms, guns, and maps, offering visitors a clear picture of various historical battles. The flag tower of Hanoi, standing proudly within the museum grounds, is an iconic symbol of Vietnam’s military strength.
The museum is well-maintained, and the exhibits are informative, with English descriptions available. The outdoor display area, featuring tanks, aircraft, and other military vehicles, adds to the immersive experience.
For those interested in war history and Vietnam’s struggle for independence, this museum is a highly recommended destination. It not only educates but also gives visitors a deeper appreciation of the country’s resilience and bravery. A fantastic...
Read moreI usually don’t write reviews, but stick with me, this one’s special…
I bought a ticket and a "camera ticket", somehow there was a mix-up at the counter and I didn't get the right ticket (without the camera). Even though I tried to explain it to one of the people there (I'd describe her as a pit bull), she wouldn't hear of it, she pretty much dragged me back to the ticket counter and started screaming like crazy and cursing me out to her coworkers. Once I was at the ticket counter, her coworker explained the mix-up and printed me out the correct ticket. It would have been nice if she had apologized, but no, she just watched the whole show and then demanded that I leave my backpack at the entrance. I have a photography backpack, there's nothing in it except lenses (camera attachments you use to take pictures, just a reminder that I paid for them). Since this was also purely out of spite, I left after that, because this behavior was just completely unreasonable and it somehow got rid of my interest in this place.
To sum it easily the worst experience I’ve had in ANY public place.
The reason why I mostly went there: If you’re interested in seeing a bunch of scrap metal then go ahead the “crash site” might be worth it. Initially I thought it was a real crash site and they build a memorial out of it, but it’s truly just a few wrecks piled on top...
