I didn’t expect this to be so great. We’d been to Phong Nha and seen Paradise Cave and it’s hard to top that, but this is a very different experience. I can’t say that everyone will have the same experience but I had the entire cave, which is massive and takes about 30 minutes to walk to the far end and back, to myself. At first I thought I’d be exploring using my phone light as it was totally in darkness, but I guess there must be motion sensors or something because a flash of blue and red announced the cave lights turning on. The lights are a bit odd, maybe natural colours would have been nicer but it was still quite cool. The rock formations are very impressive . Cost was 40,000 VND and it’s maybe a ten minute hike up some stairs to the entrance, with some nice views of the valley

HUA MA CAVE is only 10 km from Linh’s Homestay and is well worth the effort to visit. The cave entrance is on the side of a forested hill, and 250 steps from the parking area. Like many of the cave sites I’ve been to in Vietnam, this one is well developed for a safe and enjoyable sightseeing experience. There’s a solid cement pathway through the accessible (700 meters) length of the cave, and internal coloured lighting to highlight the many beautiful formations (stalactites & stalagmites) within. An additional unusual touch is the recorded bird chirping throughout the cave. This cave is the highlight attraction of the area. Safe travels, Mega.

Hua Ma Cave is a scenic spot in the Ba Be National Park. The cave is located on the Leng River and belongs to Pac Ngoi village, Quang Khe commune, Ba Be district, Bac Kan province. Hua Ma Cave is located on the waist of Co Don mountain, in the middle of Leo Pen (Ghost Forest) with green trees and fountains. Hua Ma Cave is deep in the mountain in the Southeast direction all year round and is called Leo Pen Cave by the locals. According to the legend of the local people, the Ghost Forest was once a place where ghosts resided. Later, a general of the royal court went on a tour and heard the howling of the souls of the soldiers who had fought with the royal court but could not be released. The army approached the camp right on the edge of the Leng River and the Horse Army, and won the horse's head to hold a festival for heaven and earth. After the ceremony, the howling sounds disappeared and over the years, very special and majestic stalactites grew. From then on, people called the cave "Lèn Pèn" as Hua Ma cave or locally called Dau Ngua cave. The foot of Co Don mountain is located at an altitude of 350 m above sea level. The road from the foot of the mountain to the cave entrance has been built into steps, visitors have to climb 300 meters to reach Hua Ma cave, the cave entrance is 3 meters wide, 5 meters high. Hua Ma cave please hang very wide about 1ha, length up to more than 700m, the cave ceiling is 40 - 50m wide and high, containing many barriers, majestic stalactites. Depending on the imagination of each person, the stone flowers can have some forms such as pen tower, lotus flower or the scene of Tang monk and his disciples. There is an opinion that Hua Ma cave is really the first wonder cave in Vietnam. Go here, just go. Could it have been improved? Yes, 100%. The colored lights weren't our favorite, but we had this cave all to ourselves and it is MASSIVE. We spent a good 2 hours in here and couldn't believe our eyes. 2km long, in places at least 50m high. When you think you're at the end, it just keeps going. Absolutely stunning and at 45k Dong too good to pass up on. We walked here from our homestay in Pac Ngoi, took us just over an hour through local villages, rice fields and stunning scenery. Hungry after? Have some food at the little shop/restaurant right next door. The owner lady was so lovely and made us some great lunch for cheap!

Động Hua Mạ còn được gọi là “Động Treo” bởi hang động này nằm ở lưng chừng núi, có độ cao so với mặt nước biển là 350m, chiều dài hơn 700m. Trần động có chỗ cao tới 40-50m, vé vào cửa chỉ 45k- so với sự huyền ảo lung linh, có đèn sáng nhiều màu và cả wifi ở trong động thì mình thấy quá rẻ. Đường vào động thì quanh co ngoằn ngoèo, không đến nỗi ói ra như đường lên Pai của Thái Lan hay Myanmar nhưng cũng làm mình không dám ngủ mà căng mắt ra nhìn đường 🥹 Tính từ Hà Nội lên đến đây là 4,5 tiếng đồng hồ. Để lên tới động nhà minhg phải qua một con dốc, đi tầm trăm bậc thang thì đến cửa động. Chưa kịp thở đã gặp 1 ban thờ ngay cửa hang nên tim cũng đập theo nhịp chạy marathon luôn 🥲 Khu du lịch này rất vắng vẻ nên có mỗi nhà mình ở trong động lúc đó, mãi sau trên đường ra mới gặp thêm 2 đoàn nhỏ lẻ vào tham quan nữa. Cảm giác vừa sợ vừa thích, vừa hồi hộp lại vừa phải trầm trồ vì kì quan của tạo hoá quá tuyệt đẹp! Động Hua Mạ được mệnh danh là “Kỳ quan đệ nhất Động”. Theo truyền thuyết thì động Hua Mạ là nơi "ma quỷ trú ngụ", xưa kia có vị tướng quân cưỡi ngựa đi ngang qua nghe thấy tiếng than khóc của các oan hồn là quân lính dân binh chống giặc, bị bít cửa hang mà không siêu thoát được. Vì vậy quan quân liền hạ lễ tế trời đất, kể từ đó đem lại yên bình cho những dân làng xung quanh khỏi những tiếng oan hồn quấy phá. Qua hàng triệu năm, trầm tích thời gian tạo nên những khối nhũ đá kỳ vĩ, mang nhiều hình dáng đặc biệt như hình bông hoa, đài sen đức Quan âm bồ tát, cảnh thầy trò Đường Tăng đi sang Tây Trúc lấy kinh; cảnh mỏm đá lô nhô như một buổi thiết triều có đông đủ văn võ bá quan... Các nhũ đá trắng, đen ánh lên các màu lung linh huyền ảo từ phía trên hang động rủ xuống, từ mặt đất nhô lên khiến không gian bên trong động càng thêm lung linh, huyền ảo ❤️

Such a nice surprise that we didn’t expect Hua Ma is such large and spectacular. It is large and comparable to any great cave where you can explore the greatest of natural mother. The most dislike is the lighting colors that makes you feel like you are in a cheap Chinese fiction drama. I am so desperate to ask Hua Ma management to think about the neutral color only. All kind of color shades have destroyed the beauty of Hua Ma. Anyway, it’s worth to check out if you are in Ba Be and love caves.
