Thuận An Beach, located just a short drive from the historic city of Huế, is a hidden gem along Vietnam’s central coast. Unlike the busier beaches further south, it offers a tranquil escape with soft golden sands stretching along the shoreline and gentle waves lapping at the shore. The beach is ideal for early morning strolls, sunrise photography, or simply soaking in the peaceful coastal atmosphere.
The surrounding area features local fishing villages, giving visitors a glimpse into the authentic daily life of Vietnamese coastal communities. Seafood here is fresh and plentiful, with small beachside eateries serving simple yet delicious dishes. The atmosphere remains relaxed even during weekends, making it a great spot for photographers seeking natural light, reflections in the water, and unobstructed horizon shots.
For travelers, Thuận An Beach is easily accessible by motorbike, taxi, or private car from Huế city center, and parking is straightforward. Facilities are modest but sufficient, including local stalls for refreshments and shaded areas to rest. The beach is also safe for swimming, with lifeguards present in certain sections during peak season.
Photographers will appreciate the wide-open spaces, scenic dunes, and occasional fishing boats that create compelling foregrounds. Sunrise and sunset provide excellent lighting conditions for capturing the serene beauty of the area, while the nearby lagoon adds variety to landscape compositions.
Overall, Thuận An Beach is a peaceful and photogenic coastal retreat that offers both natural beauty and cultural authenticity. It’s perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a calm, scenic Vietnamese...
Read moreIt is a nice beach with golden sand and blue water. Sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking. Thuan An is a quiet, small town. Besides the beach, the town has a beautiful lagoon, a great spot for photography. You shouldn't miss the sunsets on Tam Giang lagoon either. Dong Hai, a newly renovated hotel has rooms overlook the lagoon but only cost $13/night. You can't get that view of the lagoon from anywhere else. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the beach. Thuan An is a great place when you want to get out of the beaten paths, kick back and recharge. The town also has small, good and super affordable restaurants. If you want to explore Hue city for a day, you can take public bus, which only cost 6000VND per person. The bus stop is 5 minutes walk from Dong Hai Hotel and the beach. Of course, you can take a taxi if you prefer. It costs about $10. If you want to book a room at Dong Hai Hotel,...
Read moreI’m not sure when this beach was nice, but currently it is the saddest, dirtiest beach I have ever seen (having been in many developing places). Trash of every kind all along the beach in piles. Another huge (seemingly unnecessary) bridge being built from the end of the strait, so there is construction all through the little town leading to the beach and the road is blocked in places. It would make a huge difference to at least have some of the heavy machinery (which is clearly getting sand from the beach for construction) push the trash into piles and collect it since the amount of old glass and styrofoam requires the entire top layer of sand to be removed. Sad for the exploitation of communities adjacent to the beach. Also there even seems to be some surfing to be had which could bring revenue, but not until people aren’t afraid to walk barefoot on the...
