A Circus Without Clowns Alright, so I took a gamble on Monkey Island. You know, the place that promises monkey-filled amusement park fun? Yeah, not so much. First off, the journey was a rollercoaster of its own. A bike taxi, a ferry, and my hopes all sailed away together. The island itself? Let’s just say the beach was a major letdown compared to Nha Trang's sandy stunners. As for the monkeys, they were just chillin', doing their monkey thing. No wild antics, no Tarzan-style swinging. Just monkeys being monkeys. I shelled out extra cash for a cart tour, expecting a safari-like adventure. Nope. Just a quick spin around the island with one pit stop for a view that wasn't even worth the price of admission. The highlight? Probably the animal show, which was like a slapstick comedy routine gone wrong. A cat falling off a wire? Classic. Honestly, this place feels like a total tourist trap. You pay upfront and only then realize you've been bamboozled. The staff were nice, but that can’t save this place. Overall, Monkey Island is a big, fat monkey...
Read moreIt was nice. It had many monkeys that are not scared of people and the boat ride there is nice. Be sure to go there during monkey show times which were 10am and 2pm local time. If you did not manage to catch the time for this, then there isnt much to do there. We tried the F1 racing there as well but it was in relatively poor condition and was very hard to use, which ruined the fun. If not for the monkeys, there would be no other reason to visit this island. But be careful with what you bring. Food or drinks will make monkeys aggressive towards you and snatch them from you. This couple that followed us brought bananas to the island to feed the monkeys but when they arrived, a monkey snatched them all and tried to harrass them for more. The good thing is that we didnt have to wait for the boat for too long. Personally I would not visit again but it is a tourist site so it may be attractive for...
Read moreVery touristy, they destroyed the whole island, there is nothing natural left in it, they changed its entire structure and paved everything around with asphalt. There are terrible shows of monkeys riding bicycles and all kinds of other stunts. In retrospect, it was a terrible mistake to come here.
But In any case, for those who do want to arrive, important information: bananas are bought before boarding the boat at the ticket booth - 20k rather than 35k inside. Price list attached in the pictures, 180k for ticket. A return boat leaves approximately every half hour. We were there for half an hour, gave the monkeys some food and left as quickly as possible. Tha monkeys aggressive between themselves but we didn’t experience it on humans. You just need to respect their territory and land, and be assertive if you hold bananas because they will test...
