I would say if you are down to go for a scooter ride out of town this is worth the stop. We unfortunately did not see anyone at work at the time, but the process was obvious enough to figure out. Found a large pile of salt and tried some. Went through a police checkpoint on the highway on the way there and luckily were not stopped so we took the long route back that did not go along the sea. It was so worth it. Got to see some beautiful countryside and a random very large temple that was one of the nicest I have seen yet. Don't make it just about the salt fields, go make your own little travel loop out...
